The fact that she is a "she" is a big red flag when it comes to working in the Chinese corporate world. Unless she is working for a woman CEO or working for one of those progressive male bosses (don't exist) she will have to put up with the following. -significant wage inequity compared to her male co-workers (I'm not talking "75% of", but males making 2-3x more than women for the exact same job title) -longer hours in-office while males are out (on the clock) getting wasted and trashing hookers -quality of work differing compared to the men (more assistant/maid/gopher types jobs, less actual advertising) -having to do prep work and clean up after her male co-workers -not being given good work/opportunities, and then this lack of good work being the excuse given why she can't get paid like everyone else I'm sure Haier's boss would have some amazing insight into this kind of stuff.

I met a chick today that says she's a Hong konger but whenever I mentioned HK to her she had some poo poo to talk about it. Is it a thing for mainlanders abroad to pretend they are Hong kongers? She literally said "Hong Kong is a part of china" to me like a total cliche. When I said she's the first Hong konger I've met to say that she told me something like "HK is a part of china and that is a fact and we cannot change history." Does that sound like Hong konger talk to anyone? Genuinely curious as I only know a handful of HKers and they are all super anti china.

I wonder if those guys will ever grow up enough to realize what they missed out on. Or it could just be that you're in the right place at the right time consistently and the poor Chinese guys who would love that to happen are just never in that situation. But still, smart girls with money who know how to save rock. My gf is especially great because her parents are incredibly reasonable and totally alright with her marrying a laowai. They're probably partially glad she found someone after turning 30, but are also happy that I've got similar views on money to the older generation of Chinese who saved a lot.

For the latter, I've met several mainlanders like that in Shanghai, born in HK, but who chose PRC passports when they turned 18. Some people just have strong ties to the HK government. A lot of civil servants hold British passports but still follow PRC policy. 1. Friend of mine was born in Canada, studied in the UK (subsidized by the HK government) and practices corporate law in Hong Kong. Her dad was the Director of Immigration Hong Kong and her mom was a school principal. Since her father was in a high position before the hand over, the family obtained UK citizenship. She was born in Canada and got Canadian citizenship as well! Oh and since HK is part of China now, she also has a HK-Chinese passport! Pretty smart successful girl, and her family social circle is the upper circle of the HK government/big businesses/PRC government. They all love increased government spending, one belt one road, and greater cooperation between Hong Kong and China. 2. Another friend of mine works in corporate banking, she's directorate level for Asia Pacific Region and goes to China from time to time dealing with State owned Enterprises. Her family is typical Hong Kong middle class but she managed to get a degree in UCLA - BA Psychology and Economics. She worked her rear end off and climbed the corporate ladder. No, she didn't have to sleep with anyone but she does get quite a bit of unwanted advances. She deflects creepy dudes hitting on her by being super professional all the time. They all have similar baseline opinions : People just need to work harder for a better life instead of protesting for this and that. Politics is bad and you shouldn't get too involved - everything is RIGGED. This is all just a geo-political game. Most people are dumb and can't be trusted with democracy. It's nice to see the world recognizing China because everyone else can't be/have less incentives to be as racist as before. If you think immigrating to a foreign country will unlock job opportunities then you are dumb. There's a big glass ceiling for minorities. Whites will always be promoted before you do even with similar qualifications. Don't get or give up US citizenship because global taxation blows. I'm paying more taxes than everybody else, god drat poor people are abusing the system. It sucks being a girl in the corporate world. I want to quit my job and just open a cafe/small business but I need a bigger nest egg because most businesses are bound to fail. This is the fun part, seeing the variations : gently caress brown/black people messing around with the refugee claims process committing crimes while hiding behind the shield of human rights Foreign governments loving suck and are not as good as our HK bureaucracy HK is the crown jewel of China and would be a lot brighter if those protesters leave Protesters are foreign agents or brainwashed by foreign media Chinese State media is also a lie but we have inside information China can only be stronger when America weakens. There's no point in moving to the US with its retarded healthcare system

I've said it before, but the first Chinese movie I watched was some sort of fantasy epic, wooden acting, but it some cool special effects. The story was about retrieving some sort of a magical macguffin from some evil wizard. There were no refferences to any real world locations, until half way through, out of nowhere one of the characters goes "The Japanese are invading, we have to kill the Japanese!". So the movie became about this huge battle against the Japanese, the Japanese of course had no motivation or reason given in the movie for invading past "they're japanese".

you tell him how much you envy the way china is doing whatever you are doing and you are honored to work with the top whatever you are doing. Giving a Chinese the opportunity to feel superior to a white man will give him such a hardon If you just want to have the most face then nod and smile and never get put in a situation where you can be wrong. If you make a mistake ignore it and continue to nod and smile.

Blistex posted:I'm sure Haier's boss would have some amazing insight into this kind of stuff. When she got into her mostly-arranged marriage, she said they had absolutely nothing. She refused to work for offices because of the awful environment, so instead she got a small loan from a relative and bought some stuff to try to sell. It was stuff she was interested in and knew about, so she had no problem making a good sales pitch. Not your typical beauty product garbage, but a niche product she enjoyed herself and thought Chinese could accept in a growing market where online sales were becoming more common. She started making sales immediately and then she expanded and started buying big apartments to put the products in (like warehouses, but better resale value), and now today she's self-made multi-millionaire (in USD or GBP or EURO). Along the way she saw how retarded China is for business in terms of being ripped off and the cheating, and eventually her entire view of China itself went sour and now she just accepts that this is the place where she lives and earns money, but doesn't want her daughter or grandchildren to be stuck in this mess. She's very against the educational system, which is probably the main thing she hates so much about this country. -------- I am supposed to have a date with this very nice, normal, lovely woman near my age who works in the medical industry (not TCM), and owns her own house and car, so she's not thirsting for any man to take care of her. She seems like a fine candidate for a normal relationship, and even was the one who asked me out first and showed interest from the start, but never once mentioned immediate marriage or children other factors that usually come with a 30 year old Chinese woman. Everything was fine for the past week of talking until last night she asked why I, as an American, do not have blue eyes and blond hair. This is one of those questions that drives me up the wall because it's stupid as hell and whatever answer I give won't make any difference, unless I simply call them an idiot and then they get butthurt. Even asking them like "Why don't YOU have blue eyes and blonde hair?" is met with "I am Chinese and you are American." Anyway, this turned the conversation into all the stupid poo poo people have said to me or about me, and then all the stupid poo poo people have done to me purposely because I am a foreigner. She refused to believe that Chinese can be so ignorant, and then got upset when I tried to convince her that everything I am saying is true. In true Chinese fashion she turned it back on me, blaming me for having such negative thoughts about Chinese people, so of course the universe will respond and make Chinese people say dumb things or do dumb things to me. Apparently Chinese people being ignorant is because I lack confidence in myself, and Chinese people treat the whole world equally. At least according to her. From there, she changed our date into a "let's just be friends for now, because I don't know who you are." LMAO. Then, today, with that fresh on my mind, I was having a walk and one of those guys with the gym fliers tried to hand me one and I gave a big smile and shook my head no while saying "No thank you," as I usually. I understand that job sucks and I am generally overly-polite to those people if need be. Anyway, he looked and me said in English "gently caress YOU." I don't know how common it is but multiple asian girls gave me poo poo for having light brown eyes. Dark brown eyes = real person (asian), blue eyes = american stereotype, light brown eyes = satan himself aka me. I mean I guess they are kind of hazel which is probably why.
