You can't do it in javascript and get the headers, which is a good idea, but surely there are more ways to send a HEAD request? (to your mom lol)

baka kaba posted:That's what I did, you get a message in the log saying refused to get unsafe header "Content-Length" You know, re-reading your post now it is totally obvious. I was very tired and should have written the post in the morning like I originally planned. As for the Javascript part, why not do it in Java?

Like just sending off a HEAD req and getting the headers is pretty much the canonical way to get filesize and modification time etc.

Oh well I don't know what I'm doing I just went to see how the gif pausing stuff works, worked out you could add an attribute to an element and have the play button overlay display the text, and added a function that fires off an XmlHttpRequest to get the headers and pull out the content size, and update that attribute I mean I guess it's probably possible in Java but I don't even know javascript really, I was just poking at it. If there's a good way to get the webview asking for gif headers to get fetched and then passing that back to the javascript that would be cool, but I get the feeling this is going to be complicated...

I broke my iphone and now I'm stuck with a big dumb android. Is there a way to get images to show the link but load inline with a single tap and maybe the menu on a hold instead of always the menu

Not sure if it's the app or not, but has anyone else got a lot of random Loading Failed alerts lately, requiring a reload? Entirely random, pages load fine on desktop.

I haven't been getting loading failed messages, but in the past few days I have clicked on a topic and had it so nothing. Closing and reopening the app then has that thread's posts marked as read. So, sounds similar. Maybe I'm just not being patient enough to get the error message.

I'm getting the error message immediately. Like, the app just goes "nope, not bothering to connect to this".

Does it happen on wi-fi or a particular mobile connection or anything? Have you tried logging out and back in again? Or clearing data if nothing else is helping? Kinda hard to pin down why one or two people are having an issue

Have you tried accessing the forums in a browser (mobile chrome)? Does it show you captchas?

I have not tried logging out and back in or clearing app data, but if closing and reopening fixes I'd imagine so. I know for sure on mobile, will pay more attention and see if it happens on wifi. I don't know if it has been mentioned in the thread before, but on the Amazon fire HD 8 the text is fuzzy in posts. In the rest of the app they are fine. They also render fine in something. awful: sidebar fonts render ok: something:

The thread page has a lighter grey font on a darker background, so there's less contrast and it doesn't look as sharp Have you got a pic of an unread post next to the sidebar? That way it'll be the same colours and it'll be a better comparison baka kaba fucked around with this message at 10:58 on Dec 12, 2016 |

Ok it's definitely rendering a bit differently, maybe because subpixel antialiasing is disabled in the CSS, and it's more noticeable on a low DPI device. We can have a play around with it anyway Also do you have hardware rendering turned on (Settings > Device and Navigation)

I'm not sure if this is an option I'm just not seeing, but would it be possible to have an option to move the navigation menu icon to the top right instead of the top left. My phone is stupidly big and I browse with my right hand. A lot of times when I use my thumb to open the nav menu, my hand fat hits something unintended and everything gets all fucky.

Eh not really, it's an Android framework thing and it would be a lot of work even if it was an option. How often do you open that anyway?

You can also just swipe from left to right (but not swipe in/rightward from the left edge), fyi. Takes you from a thread back to the subforum or your bookmarks, and from either of those to the main forum index.

Can you log in through your phone's browser, no captchas or anything? Does refreshing the thread list in the settings fail too? Do you see the loading spinner on the forum list or does it immediately fail? Also it's clearing data that you need to do, not sure if anything is in the cache... 🤔 baka kaba fucked around with this message at 22:13 on Dec 20, 2016 |
