I mentally picture Zordon when people talk about Haim Saban, and I'm not interested in correcting that mental image. As for the Democratic party, they're so poorly organized at the local level that I'm almost surprised that Republicans haven't organized to have some of their members switch parties and take over. Or maybe they succeeded.

also lol, this paragraph from that observer articlequote:One of Mr. Ellison’s supporters for the DNC position is Symone Sanders, a former spokeswoman for Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign. Recently, on CNN, she dismissed the idea of Howard Dean returning as DNC Chairman, commenting, “We don’t need white people leading the Democratic Party right now.”

There seems to be this idea that we either tell these people that they're going to be destitute and die penniless with their towns dead and their progeny gone, or we lie to them and tell them everything's gonna be fine. Like politics should be all about the inevitable rather than moving in a desired direction There's a difference between offering people genuine hope and prescribing people a poison pill. Blaming all manufacturing job losses since the 1970s on NAFTA is a poison pill. Demonizing trade between nations is a poison pill. Pledging to start a trade war is a poison pill. It's not that Clinton didn't talk about jobs or helping out working class voters, she did. The problem is that the poison pill was a lot more appetizing.

Maybe Hillary could have gone "FULL SHALE GAS, CLEAN ENERGY BRIDGE FUEL NOW" and gained some votes idk For every waste of oxygen in Berkley, she might have gained two people in certain strategic areas on this map? I mean people clearly don't give a poo poo about climate change at this point.

It's looking plausible Clinton actually will end up with more votes than Obama in 12. Only about 400k behind at this point. Only further outlines how poor her strategy was, to receive that many votes and still lose. It's like she played chess against Trump starting with two queens and lost

Clinton's platform had plenty of jobs and working class stuff but she never loving talked about it. For gods sake only 9% of her ads were about jobs. You don't need to lie to these people. Just tell them that you will work your rear end off to help them.

The problem is that the poison pill was a lot more appetizing. it's possible to talk about the negative effects of trade tho in fact even though the economics field is streotyped as protrade there is an actual split (mostly between people who take the labor economics side of "hey the affected workers are people who need to eat" vs the macroeconomic view of "beep boop labor is a commodity that can be treated exactly like a tanker full of oil that waits in port for years for the price to go up")

Various technocrats have been predicting the automation of most/all labor for 200 years. Maybe self-driving cars and learning machines will really take off and make a big run to that end- but I think Dems should stop putting off real concerns about today's labor issues because of this idea that it's not going to matter in X years anyways.
