Going to LA is dumb for the Chargers, they will always be the B team in LA. Hell, probably the C team with all the Raiders fans still there.

The Chargers as the B team in LA are a more valuable franchise than they are in San Diego, even with a new stadium

Pretty sure the last thing Spanos wants to do is go to LA. But it's a brand new world class stadium the chargers will be able to play in for decades on the cheap, as opposed to renting the same shitheap in San Diego year after year and hoping something changes.
Then maybe Spanos should have put together a stadium proposal for San Diego that was realistic instead of asking for a billion dollars from taxpayers.

This may be true on paper but I have a hard time seeing how revenues will be significantly better. LA sports fans give ZERO fucks about bad teams. Only two LA sports teams have any semblance of fan loyalty during bad seasons, and that's the Lakers and Dodgers because those teams have actually won multiple championships in the city and have been there more than half a century. Even then, when McCourt was running the Dodgers into the ground in 2011, fans stayed away in droves and actual attendance plummeted. Now, the city has a Clippers team worth watching, a Lakers team with enough young players to give fans something to pay attention to, a Kings team that has won twice in the last five years and is still pretty good, and a Dodgers team that's won their division 4 straight years. People who were starving for football in LA have already had that hunger sated by the Rams. Who's left to give two shits about a bad Chargers team?? There are too many other options for entertainment dollars and time.

The Chargers are bad and aren't going to get better any time soon. The Chargers have no significant nostalgia roots in LA like the Rams do to help them when they are lovely. As has been said, Spanos will miss out on a lot of the stadium revenue being a tenant of Kroenke's. He won't get naming rights revenue, and I doubt he gets any Super Bowl revenue. On top of that, LA is almost certainly a worse place for away team fans to come see a game than SD is, and anyone who's watched Charger home games in the last five years knows that away fans have been significant boosters of attendance. And if Spanos is counting on some diehard SD Chargers fans to drive/train up to LA for games, he's in for a rude awakening. If there's one thing San Diego natives hate more than Spanos, it's Los Angeles.

If Chargers go to the new Kroenkedome, they won't get concessions money, parking money, advertising money, etc because Stan would never cede that to Spanos.

I thought that Stan was forced to give some of it to the tenant team as part of the bargain for him to get permission to move to LA

I'm a big NFL fan, but screw paying one taxpayer dollar for a football stadium. Football stadiums are giant wastes of concrete surrounded by even larger acres of parking lot asphalt, and are empty 355 days of the year. A football team within your city limits provides zero additional economic value to your city. Negative, in fact, due to the waste of land.

Baseball. A more worthwhile investment. Less parking needed, at least 81 games a year.

Basketball/Hockey - an even better investment. Hardly any parking needed if you are near mass transit, games all the time, great for concerts and conventions and circuses. Could be lit up 300 nights a year. Build that sucker ASAP.

Any city that gets conned into paying for a football stadium deserves nothing but ridicule.

My understanding is that Stan has to cede PSLs and a portion of luxury boxes when the second team is playing home games but nothing about operations or infrastructure themselves.

No, we'll tear it down and re-do the whole area with some public green space or whatever, and build a new stadium there for SDSU that seats like 40k and call that Estadio Azteca.
