ECB Rejects Monte Paschi bid for more time on capital. State bailout expected to follow, with bail-in clases triggered. So bondholders get a haircut (expect pensioners and savers to take it up the rear end), reckless bank gets to be propped up by the state (with the people in charge largely walking away unaffected) and the Italian goverment gets to add some billions to its debt counter. With more to follow down the line. But sure lets talk about the ethnicity of the thugs, that's the big issue at hand here.

No, that's not true. Perhaps my words were unclear. We don't know the ethnicity and religion of both attackers and victims. Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if this was indeed an islamophobic attack. But we just can't tell from this video alone.

French Social Party’s primary update: Marie-Noëlle Lienemann is out of the primary because she doesn't want too many candidate for the left wing of the party and boys are mean and don’t want to quit. So take that man/woman parity. Apparently the party is busy voting on who can and can not participate at the moment. Now let's see the “centrist” parties candidates: En Marche! (EM: Forward!): Emmanuel Macron. See EM is the EM candidate, it’s his ego, his party, his initials and that's why the name is so weird, really(not that weird party names are rare in France). Oh, narcissism. E. Macron won't take part in the PS primary because everyone voting there mostly hate him nearly more than they hate Hollande and his chances there would be bad without a massive electoral invasion. EM claims to have 100 000 member ( for reference the social party got 40k people paying their yearly dues but claims nearly 100k more non paying members, like macron used to be), which is (cynically) probably the lowest number they will actually have in EM party IF they do better than the Partie Socialiste in the actual election. The main politician in the EM party outside of EM is Gérard Collomb, member of the PS, senator of the Rhone, mayor of Lyon and president of the Lyon metropolitan area (basically Baron of Lyon). Since the Socialist party direction said they would kick anyone supporting Macron(or Montebourg if he ever try to do a solo run too) out of the party, it's good to know he still got a decent seat of power or three. For reference around 20+ mp from the Socialist Party, the PRG and few other centrist parliamentary openly support EM. Basically splitters, I bet you are all surprised... It's a third way party sometime compared to the spanish Ciudadanos party in some part of the press. Mouvement Democrate (MODEM: Democratic movement): Jean Lassalle initially candidate but wait for it...: The modem is the ghost of the old centrist UDF party (used to be presided by former president Valery “i really want to gently caress lady D” Giscard D’Estaing. 14K members, 1 MP, 6 senators, 4 EU MP, 51 regional counsil member, one region president andd 48 department counselor It’s basically a coalition of all the satellite parties/movements of the UMP that find them too on the rightwing side of the spectrum. Because politician need a place to exist and be candidate, you see. And with the current UMP candidate, well... It’s the UMP little brother that is quite tired of his elder brother constantly stealing his poo poo. So this year Jean Lassalle, their vice president and only member of parliament was candidate. Or at least it was apparently the original plan because: François Bayrou, president of the party, everyone favorite Henri IV’s biograph and racing horses breeder, former candidate in 2002(6.84%), 2007(18.57%), and 2012 (9.13%) said he was not going to participate IF the UMP candidate was Juppé (and that he would support Juppé but only him) and we know how it ended. So i guess fourth time is a charm. Too bad EM is candidate this year, or Bayrou may have had his chance. He may still have. But probably to really certainly not. That’s too sad and yet quite funny at the same time (your sadness to funny ratio may varies depending on where you are on the political spectrum, from hyper-sadness to insenaly funny). Smallest little violon solo and all… And now more centrist candidate because gently caress you it’s france we have 36000 mayors and you only need 500 mayor signatures to participate. And they can signs for as many candidate as they want. So you just really need time really. La France qui Ose (the France who dares) : Rama Yade. La France qui ose is a centrist coalition of several political movements including l’Alliance Ecologiste Indépendante (yet another ecological party), the liberal party, Démocracy 21, Le rassemblement éco-cityoen (yet another ecological party) and the Circle of Diversity. Rama Yade was a centrist young secretary of state under Sarkozy in Fillon second governement (they probably needed fresh face and wanted as many female ministers as male ones, and she wasn't bad, unlike some males). Had a few minor justice problems on the side after sarkozy for « insulting » a few older policians on blogs and after contesting the presidency election of the Radical Party(the rightwing version of the PRG, both party used to rule France together as the radical party but ww2 :history:) , she lost, contested the vote in court, lost that too and had to pay the lawyers. But compared to certain other candidates in my lists, it's really nothing. Against Corrida, against Pot (she may be young but it’s still a centrist party in France trying to get rightwing voters, guys), she is a member of Club XXIth century (it’s « insert current year » guys) a diversity promotion group which probably realized Taubira wasn’t running this year (drat, my cynisim). And really considering how badly the far right treated a white as gently caress guy like Alain « amstrad » Juppé or Christiane Taubira she must be So there is that party named Union des démocrates et Indépendant (UDI: Union of the democrats and independents ) who is basically bigger ( by 30 mps to 1) those days than the Modem (which they did more or less quit surprised yet?) , it’s kinda in the same situation than the Modem with Juppé and Fillon so they may present one candidate, unless the UMP stab them all at a wedding or just murder them in their sleep. Some of their members support Macron too because they know they are vassals so why stop at an half betrayal. You wonder why they had a separation but it was part of the UMP revenge plan against Bayrou. Their candidate this cycle is their presidentJean-Christophe Lagarde because the more charismatic "social drinker" Jean Louis Borlo (former radical president) is still in detox (it’s a joke because he seriously is from Boris Eltsine’s school of sobriety. Also sort of a Columbo inpersonator so more interesting to watch than 95 % of the people here). I won’t go over the Modem versus UDI internal drama but it’s basically ASOIAF/Game of Throne level of skulduggery. Sarkozy sent his regards and all. AND NOW THE UMP&RIGHTWING candidateS (THANK GOD FOR THE PRIMARY) : The official primary one : François Fillon (will probably get the « he got The guy no one know why he is here aka Jean-Pierre Gorge. Henri « gently caress YOU ALL I AM CYNISM AND CONSERVATISM MADE FLESH » Guaino Michèle « I used to be minister of the army but Fillon and Sarkozy throwed me out because i had a house in magreb and my husband worked with now former dictators, so gently caress them all» Alliot-Marie. Only 4, those primaries were useful. One more rightwinger : Debout la France (Stand up France) : Nicolas Dupont-Aignan https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAHASUYMHZY And finally Front National (FN : National Front) : Marine Le Pen, the daughter of the one eyed castle owner. I will do the extras later some of them are mildly interesting(no not that much). Toplowtech fucked around with this message at 14:36 on Dec 10, 2016 |

In Italian news: Paolo Gentiloni (currently foreign minister) has been tasked by the President of the Republic to form a new government, to decide upon the electoral law which will be used to hold the next elections. Gentiloni is currently holding consultations with all political parties to hear what they have to say, and the Lega and the Five-Star Movement have already said they aren't going to talk to him, his government is illegitimate, and we should vote right now or else Just as a reminder, here's how the political process works in Italy: The President of the Republic (head of state) is elected once every seven years by Parliament, and names the President of the Council of Ministers (head of government). The President of the Council in turn names the ministers, and then the government as a whole is subject to a vote of confidence by Parliament. This happens at least once every five years (term of office for Parliament), usually more often since our governments are as stable as a drunk elephant balancing on a monocycle.
