he stays dead, peter becomes scarlet spider and moves to texas (or wherever it was that kaine was living) when his business collapses. miles is tragically killed in an accident and ganke becomes the new spider-man

She didn't die until Secret Invasion which was four years into his run on New Avengers and pretty much halfway through his Avengers run overall. His resurrection of the Vision was far more awkward. Vision did die in his first Avengers story and then in that same final arc Tony is like "Surprise! It's the Vision! I totally fixed him in the basement when nobody was looking!"

Either through "investigation" or them straight-up confessing.

Keeping your secret identity from friends is dumb and a source of forced-rear end drama. There is a reason that even heroes with secret identities have done away with it.

the miles/ganke dynamic is good and it'll probably still be good in the movie, even if it's peter parker and ned leeds instead this movie kinda feels like it was supposed to be about miles until someone decided it should be about peter at the last second to me, but I like both of them so whatever. having it be about miles and then making peter a teacher at the school could have given them both spider-men at once tho, which would have been cool. maybe they just made it peter so they could bring him in for his cameo in captain america 3?

both spider-men have a secret identity but both of them also have people that know who they are he can keep it a secret from everyone but his friend ned 'ganke' leeds. I don't see why this is a problem

He isn't doing away with the secret identity thing though? He has people who know his secret identity, it isn't the same thing. I mean any modern Spider-Man is at least somewhat inspired by Ultimate and Ultimate had Peter's friends find out his identity relatively quickly too. Like yeah, Peter's secret identity meaning he is untrusted/a menace/ect is a central part of the character. Peter refusing to tell his best friend/love interest/ect who he is is just Forced Drama. Edit: Look at this fundamental destruction of the concept of Spider-Man!! ImpAtom fucked around with this message at 21:47 on Dec 14, 2016 |

Spider-Man's identity has rarely been 100% secure. Times when nobody has known who he is are very few and very short. There's been somebody who's known who he is since, what... Romita-era Green Goblin?

Also, the cynical explanation of Peter being white, which produces still feel is a safer bet. Black Panther is the first non-white Marvel hero with his own movie, isn't he? Rhyno posted:Kind of hard to be when the concept didn't even exist. I know. But it was easier for Blade to be made when comic book movies were barely a subgenre and it was sold more as a vampire action movie. Once a bunch of money and big studios got behind them, it took a while for minority heroes to get their own films again. That's not meant to start a whole 'Hollywood is racist' derail. It's just how it is, and why a Miles movie would be really unlikely when they still haven't made Peter Parker part of the MCU.
|
# ? Dec 15, 2016 01:12 |
They coulda split the difference and made Peter mixed race, like his mom was black and his dad was white so his family structure is still exactly the same but he isn't yet another white character. Just super sayin'.

Oh, that is pretty funny. I always lament how poorly the Raimi movies used MJ. Even though they're 2 and a half great movies that capture the spirit of the Romita era Spider-man perfectly, they manage to make the love interest character more one-dimensional and unlikeable than Stan Lee's 60s sexism ever could. For the longest time I just thought Kirsten Dunst was a terrible actress, until I saw her in other stuff. Turns out her role as MJ had nothing for her to work with.
