Two nights after that Houston shellacking, Cousins broke Larry Bird’s team record by dropping an astonishing 62 points on the Magic. A delirious Celtics crowd kept lifting Cousins to a higher place, as Celtics announcer Brian Scalabrine says now, “like they needed each other.” He compares the experience to seeing a Springsteen show in Jersey, how the Boss feeds off his hometown crowd and gains energy as the night creeps along. Is it strange to compare DeMarcus Cousins to Bruce Springsteen? “Two years ago, I would have said yes, obviously,” says Scalabrine. “But not after everything we’ve seen. He’s the new Boss!”

Hahahahaha

This is the second worse thing I've read today next to Craig Sager passing away.

But not by much.

That's awful about Sager. Says a lot about him just how much outpouring of love and support there's been ever since he first announced he had cancer. As terrible as it all is for both him and his family, it's nice at least that he was surrounded by that much love while he went through everything.

I don't know how he managed the strength to go through three bone marrow transplants plus chemo.

My favorite quote about Sager

quote:

"Craig Sager is one of the most interesting people I've ever met," Barkley said. "We go to see Sager to cheer him up and by the time you leave you're like, 'Is anything wrong with him?' He has the most positive attitude ... When you go to try and cheer him up his attitude is so upbeat he cheers you up."

When I was 17, my father was so stupid, I didn't want to be seen with him in public. When I was 24, I was amazed at how much the old man had learned in just 7 years.
Craig had a personality that was loved across the nation and transcended people's fandoms, and really made the sideline question an interesting part of the broadcast. Safe home.

I think if I could have any one wish in life it would be that after I died people universally said "That man was the most positive upbeat person I've ever met and I am better for meeting him."

That's Craig Sager.

quote:

For a long time you probably just knew him for the clothes, bold threads connecting a colorful life. Boys at Batavia (Ill.) High were required to wear black or navy blazers for their graduation pictures. Sager showed up in an electric blue Nehru jacket, confounding the photographer. He was an athlete before he was a dandy, a walk-on football and basketball player at Northwestern who sustained two concussions returning kicks in his first fall camp, sending him to the cheerleading squad instead. Using his mini-trampoline, he did flips over cars during pub crawls. But cheerleaders didn’t travel, and Sager longed for the road, so he dressed as Willie the Wildcat for a showdown at Ohio State. After Northwestern won, the Buckeyes’ band took out its frustrations on poor Willie, stabbing his mascot fur with their instruments. The Cats sprinted from a victorious locker room to rescue Sager, making him Willie for good.

Sucks for them to loser a shooter and ball handler. But Sergio is holding down the fort and my understanding is that Simmons will be playing the 1 and guarding 1s when he returns (debuts?) in a month or so!
