Proportional awarding of electors is probably the only reform that'd ever pass. If Texas ever goes Blue you can believe Republicans will be all over that.

Here are the states that actually decide the election now: Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Wisconsin

The rest always go one way or the other, so they are essentially meaningless. The EC has marginalized every other state but those, as you know exactly where their vote lie. Basically we have a system where the overwhelming majority of the united states just flat out doesn't matter.

I believe he means that the electors are in proportion to the population, and not the current system which is representatives + senators. If you remove the senator number things start to line up a lot more, and every state is worth 2 EC votes less, so the electoral college will drop to 436. 100 less for all states total, and 2 less for DC which gets 3, same as the smallest state.

The EC is poo poo and needs to be redone. I'd prefer popular vote so that people as a whole are more likely to vote since it will actually matter.

The majority of the land area doesn't matter. The areas that have low electoral votes are the areas where nobody lives. Wyoming has a population of 586,000. That's less than 6 people per square mile, and a smaller population in the entire state than Detroit. Of course Wyoming is going to have less representation than Boston: nobody loving lives there. The only thing a switch to a popular vote will do is prevent cases where the loser of the election manages to get the presidency handed to them anyway because of how the system is set up.

Dirt doesn't vote. People do.

Seems to you, because you are ignorant. I'm from Australia and I can tell you we don't have a single popular vote for control of the country. There are very few nations who do.

My country votes by district to select the members of the house of representatives, then by state to select the senate members. The leader of the victorious party becomes the prime minister, but the only people that vote directly for him/her are the people in his/her district. Also a member may fail to win the popular vote in their district but still be elected by being handed voting preferences from minority parties. If neither of the major parties can form a majority government then they must broker coalitions with independents and minor party representatives and form a minority government.

This is every bit as weird and voodoo as the poo poo you're complaining about. I'm sure it's the same elsewhere in the developed world.

Those swing states only matter because the 3 biggest states vote so consistently.

As soon as NY, CA, or TX comes into play again the whole balance changes. And Texas is probably going to come into play in another decade.

This probably isn't a schadenfreude topic though.

Oh we have such sights to show you. :getin:

Overwatch is a very...odd example though. Porn being made of games is nothing new, but the sheer volume of it surrounding Overwatch is absolutely insane - couple this with bickering over who fucks who and you've got a really uptight, volatile fanbase. I stopped reading the goon thread because it started spilling over into there; only so many times you can see ~ironically~ posted titty fan art before it starts getting weird.
