lisp only has syntax when one lisper is arguing with another lisper why the first lisper's choice of lisps is clearly obviously superior to the second lisper's choice of lisps if you could even call it a lisp in the first place

is there a decent online python tutorial that uses it on the context of real problems rather than hello world? i feel like i should learn it just to have something popular in my toolbelt but i get so bored with toy stuff.

python is used for toy problems though :v:

maybe try pygame tutorials or something? it's used a lot in data science, but that seems to mostly be boiler plate around shoving data into an extant framework.

thing is no, no force on earth can get people to stop using c++

i think it's a bit naive of rust to think it might attract c++ users

i mean, go thought it was like that too for a bit, until they realised the people picking up Go were mostly C, python and ruby people, the latter two just looking for static binaries and cheap performance

yeah but go is garbage collected so it never really stood a chance

also no generics, how are you supposed to jerk off over making insane template metaprogramming libraries?!

go has generics

it's just limited to array, map, slice, and channel. you didn't need anything more than that did you?

obviously they don't want generics in go. they have to save something for go++

lisp is great. common lisp may be the most well conceived language standard ever. it is one thing to put it in correct historic perspective of no longer being relevant, but we would have done fine with cl in place of java at the core of modern software

nah. you would not be able to achieve the useful library density of java in a lisp

witness: the fact that there is no useful library density in any lisp, despite having literally twenty years of development head start

ultimately it's a plang no matter the cute syntax
