Windows 8.1/10 x86_32 *shiver* merely requires PAE, NX and SSE2. Windows 8.1/10 x86_64 also requires CMPXCHG16b, LAHF/SAHF, and PREFETCHW, which are supported by all but the earliest (or most cutthroat, Intel) AMD64 and EM64T CPUs (although some supported CPUs will get frozen out by their motherboards' support because the manufacturer was a cheapass or segmented the market really hard). I'm not familiar with Windows RT/10 ARM requirements. So yeah, a good ten years or so of processors are in theory capable of Windows 10. My guess is the minimum will be ratcheted up as instruction sets are found necessary and/or useful, but something like a Sandy Bridge CPU will probably die of electromigration or live to see a world where Windows is gone or unrecognizable rather than be sent home by Windows. dont be mean to me fucked around with this message at 05:12 on Dec 20, 2016 |

i found the "real" windows hardware requirements page, including complete listings of allowed ARM SoCs and etc apparently the quarks won't work with IoT core, it does indeed need pae, nx and sse2. i really thought IoT core could be installed on the edison boards but i guess not

lol windows 10 is such poo poo. my system tray clock keeps forgetting to update (system time is correct though because a correct clock pops up when you click the inocrrect clock, lol) and the graphics chips slowly chokes itself until poo poo just stops animating (including stuff filling into windows at all) and you have to reboot. who know what loving update did this because all the ms support threads on this topic have indian techs telling people to replace their cmos batteries when theyve very clearly said the system time is correct.

To my pleasure I found out that it is still a thing in Excel that you can't right click a column header (or row for that matter) and insert a column if you have anything in the clipboard. The only option you get is to insert copied cells. You have to go to the ribbon and insert one that way like some loving mong.

im guessing its ancient legacy behavior where checking on the state of excel itself was more efficient than checking if the document had actually been changed.
