game is okay, sov system is utter dumpster fire, structures are cool, rorquals are cool, thread is still garbage

Citadels are missing two major things to bring them to feature parity with stations: docked repair (read: repair you can do in a traditional station) and insurance. Beyond that they're awesome and a gift from the gods in w-space, though the big name w-space groups have dropped a few keepstars, making it effectively impossible to dislodge them in the future.

Citadels are a mix of good and bad.

Good:
* Can build infrastructure in null and not risk getting all your possessions hellcamped/deadzoned due to the joys of asset stasis
* Godsend for J-space
* Pretty good at killing caps if properly configured and manned
* Allows you to move caps risk-free (and supers with minimal risk)

Bad:
* Everyone's spamming Astrahuses everywhere and making GBS threads up overviews
* Doesn't automatically kill poo poo like a POS would
* Still can't insure ships
* Still can't repair items without fitting them to a ship undocking, which means you can't trivially repackage and contract items with 1% damage on them

Dumb:
* Keepstars can be anchored in J-systems and are basically indestructible once refitted (and Fortizars are close-to-indestructible)
* You can anchor them 1000km off a POS, and the POS will auto-attack targets -- and yes, faction XL arty batteries can hit a moving T3 from 1000km away

Overall, game's not in bad shape. There's still some dumb balancing odds-and-ends that need to be done (tiericided turrets, rebalancing blops and AFs, panic rorqual tackler being OP garbage, machariel still top-tier PvP BS with no real competition, etc), and sov mechanics are pure stupid garbage. OTOH, citadels ended up okay, the Svipul finally got nerfed (altho it's still a very good ship), ganglinks rebalance turned out okay, and poo poo is reasonably fun.

Politics wise: PLNCH have continued to murder or absorb nearly every single alliance they were blue to this year, and Horde now has to roam multiple regions away to get content, which has produced lots of drama. Goons have rebuilt in Delve and are pretty much back to 2012 levels. CO2 and TEST have decided that it's a good idea to invade Stain Russians in the middle of winter, because PGL promises it'll totally work this time.

The links rebalance also took the nerfbat to several ships all at once, which was cool (aka: eat poo poo Garmurs and Orthruses). It also means command ships are seeing a bit more use on grid now, though it seems Sleipnirs for shield fleets and Damnations for armor.

Keepstars and fortizars at least should have a limit on how many are in a given system. Taking a capital system that has multiple keepstars is going to be so god drat retarded. If goons had been dropping keepstars in deklein since 2011 there would be multiple systems with 10 keepstars in it.

Sure I don't disagree with the limit on keepstars/fortizars in a single system (I'm not sure what that limit should be per se but I'm open to discuss it/debate it). I just think that particular dumb allowance is overshadowed by allowing those in Wormhole systems, where they become impossible to kill.

And yeah, since you can't get supers into the HK WH system, it's impossible to ever destroy it. How is that a good thing at all in terms of game mechanics?

Carth Dookie
Jan 28, 2013

I have no idea. I doubt it.

FCON are primarily known for being terrible pubbies who operate using a *snort* democracy and not participating in half the things that make EVE interesting. I hated being allied to them even before joining hole squad and getting killed by them before we joined GSF proper.

If I recall correctly, they discretely left the Imperium, but only after the Casino war was more or less over, rather than defecting at the worst possible time like CO2 did. Having said that, they spent most of the war evaccing long after it was too late for them to safely leave and losing a bunch of supers/titans and I can't recall if they actually did anything useful during the defensive campaign. This is normal behaviour for them. They're the kind of guys who jump their neutral JFs into goon systems and get murdered, after getting their freighters popped by Miniluv in highsec. They also don't participate in Burn Jita because e-honoure and tend to get their neutral alts scammed and murdered during the event.

Basically they're dumb and philosophically awful and murdering them is sweet ambrosia.

Pretty much, they would only bring Hurricane's to most ops (even the majorly hurfed important timers like M-O and their own staging system) and ended up losing the entire fleet to bombs before they even got there or within minutes of the fight starting. They also refused to stage in Saranen or join coalition fleets (they always had to run their own..) for the majority of the war.

SMA, RZR, FCON, and CO2 all left

SMA and RZR both died after exiting the coalition

FCON exited the coalition but still remains in Immensea and Tenerifis, living as pets to Triumverate

CO2 flipped sides after losing one sov structure and began shooting us, and are currently crammed into a lowsec station near curse trying to take catch
