My worst Cronenberg (but I have not seen A Dangerous Method) is Maps to the Stars, but it's the same scenario as Boogey - it's not because Maps is bad, it's just that, say, Cosmopolis is already really, really loving good. Some other personal favs: - Fast Company (same year as The Brood, nice kitschy power-fantasy complement) - M. Butterfly (actually, that's probably my favorite, or tied with Dead Ringers) - Spider

I finally saw Fast Company recently, that one's a lot of fun. I loved Maps to the Stars (although, yeah, probably not as much as Cosmopolis). I owe it a rewatch now that Carrie Fisher died.

Does Nightbreed count? He didn't direct it, but Cronenberg had a major role. Nightbreed sucks.

I think Viggo turns in one of the greatest performances of all-time in that. They're both really good movies but A History of Violence doesn't stand a loving chance in that contest.

To clarify a little bit, I really like the set design and costume work that went into Nightbreed. I even love the fact it's set in Calgary and what that says about the city. I just think it's a bad movie.

Also, deformed people are not deserving of love and compassion. I don't think that's the moral of the movie. Cronenberg chat has got me rewatching Videodrome and I feel bad that James Woods mind was also warped by televised perversion in real life. edit: M. Butterfly is way underrated and I actually like it a whole lot more than Dead Ringers.

I know y'all are real suspicious that ASMR is just some kind of weird fetish, but I swear to god that Heather Feather's videos are legit fascinating: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yShUd0WQ-70 She really puts the extra effort into her poo poo, a lot of them are just sound sensation and trigger videos, but every once and a while she posts something that, like, has a very carefully thought out narrative, like this one, which is tinged with bits of sci-fi: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRMtiYQaRzs&t=191s

I love the hosed up relationships in Cronenberg films, they make me uncomfortable. He and Peter Greenaway are both so great at exploring cruelty and control, they're almost a yin-yang, nestling together in a gleefully clinical circle of rape, tumors, and psychological damage.LesterGroans posted:For some reason I find Steve Jobs really rewatchable.
