This sounded great to me until I remembered that most cars in a lineup are just fancier versions of the base car. Would you really ever choose the ATS when you could have an ATS-V at no difference in cost? Your choices end up boiling down to either fancy sedan or fancy SUV. Them covering insurance also sounded great to me until I read the fine print. $750 deductible, and it sounds like it's liability only. So you gotta have your own insurance on top of that.

I've never understood why anyone buys a new luxury car. The CT6 is a great lease candidate if you want the newest poo poo, and a great off-lease candidate if you want a highly depreciated luxury car.

And for that increase in cost, you now can have anything Cadillac makes. Get a CT6, XTS, or Escalade when you've got a long road trip coming up, ATS, XT5 or CTS when you're planning on staying in town, ATS-V or CTS-V when you feel like shredding someone else's tires.

Volvo V90 will be special-order only (CrossCountry will be business as usual). I'd like to think this means I can order a V90 new and sell it in 5 years for what I paid for it. http://blog.caranddriver.com/you-can-buy-the-2018-volvo-v90-wagon-in-america-but-only-if-you-custom-order-it/

The lightweight concept dropped 800lbs. Hard to imagine many people would pay 45-50 grand for a ~3500lb 400hp/400ftlb Fusion RS.

Powershift posted:The lightweight concept dropped 800lbs. Sadly true. To get the weight out now they'd either need to strip it of comfort and gizwangs (not many takers there) or on the engineering/materials side ($$$). 400/450 is not hard on the tuning side of things but it's such a porker of a car. Best leave a potential fusion RS to the next gen platform and design from the ground up.

This is GM we're talking about. It'll have an automatic, but not one of the good, new ones. A leftover 4L80E or something. And torque management.
|
# ? Jan 8, 2017 04:50 |

Only the v6 now has 6L80E iirc so should be 8 speed and in another year or two 10 speed. I think they have awd lined up above 6 now... Even the 6.2L truck motor with some basic forced induction would be solid to outdo the ecolie err boost

I'd expect the 3.3 in the hybrid F-150. Edge is probably a good bet, interesting question is if we'll end up with an Ecoboost version of it at some point.

This might have made sense in 2012? when GoPro reached peak hype, hardly ever see them at all anymore. Seems like they'd make a lovely dashcam. Or is the mount for pointing the camera in so you can narrate your extreme youtube lifestyle? I guess that makes more sense.
