Maybe I didn't give it a fair shake, but like the first fews hours or so of Until Dawn after the prologue that I saw was just a jump scare followed by "tricked you!" over and over until I completely lost interest in the game. also the only interesting character, Flamethrower Man (theory but I'm spoiling it because I'm that sure) is really loving obviously a good guy because he tried to save the girls in the prologue and shushed the one girl in the cave instead of killing her with the goddamn flamethrower but everyone keeps running from him. I want to be in his game instead of unlikeable teens pranking each other simulator.

It's like a Jason movie. First third is boring then it goes out of control. The moment to moment is great.

DeathChicken posted:I have a bug to play another game along the lines of Until Dawn (there are several characters, there's a mystery to solve, things can go differently depending on how badly you gently caress up and get everyone killed). Suggestions? Try Life Is Strange, it's not really a horror game, more of a 2000's indie teen SF movie vibe but it's pretty good. Oxenfree is a 2D indie game but it has a similar style where you actions and dialogue choices can effect the outcome and it's really good.

Life is Strange definitely gets some serious horror elements in the last episode. I'd have liked it if more of the game was like that. Also a big Oxenfree fan. I think nine-gear crow from SA was listed as one of the voice actors in it.

They could make the UD sequel so more complex motion controls make for more interesting interaction, but nah Sony says move headsets so we're going with lovely zombie shooter.

Sony probably gave them a bundle of unmarked bills to pad out the VR launch so it would have more than 1 good game.

You're probably being funny, but in case you're not, the video's an elaborate mockup that uses camera tricks and weird transitions to make a single hallway seem to be about half a mile long, with the rooms becoming gradually more decayed on each pass. The captions maintain the same slightly broken deadpan and repetition of phrases, which makes the whole thing appropriately unsettling.

I wish my attention span online was longer. I watched that video just long enough to see that it was a creepy looking house. Though my brain was mostly wondering how much the repair costs would be then I turned it off after about a minute in.

I got around to watching FnaF 5's secret endings. Content aside, what surprises me most is that Sister Location has really good voice acting. I don't know who Cawthorn hired or if he directed them himself, but adding VA to that series could have turned out disastrously and it was definitely a well-executed risk.

Some previews coming out for RE7 and it's looking surprisingly good. There's an opening chase after the dinner scene with the Chainsaw Massacre family that looks like something out of Call of Cthulhu with the chase/survival elements of Alien although probably not as punishing for gently caress ups.
