Out of the millions of people in America we decided our two best options for running the country was a billionaire and a former president's wife with years of scandals attached to her name. This country is hosed regardless.

Part of the problem is that the Democratic voter base is full of idiots. Hillary won the popular vote in 2008 for democratic nominee too. If not for the delegate system we'd have ended up with President McCain.

Let's not kid ourselves. There's a lot of that in the Republicans as well (Jeb!) It's just that this year the GOP primary vote was split so much among similar candidates that Trump managed a majority. And then Hillary had the scandals and let's face it zero charisma while Trump fed the desperate folks in the rust belt enough lies.

Not to mention her and her team being the most incompetent lazy shits ever. Who waits til 6 weeks before the election to win over Michigan unions? At least we know for sure that her team and her will never try again. They lost to Trump, they'll never live that down.

I used to like their videos when it was just "goofs and gaffs," but now I wonder if they're doing this to gain more popularity in the burgeoning market that's validating the alt-right. Considering that Ethan called out Joey Salads to his face for making fake racist videos to promote Trump, said that the Hugh Mongous lady was co-opting real feminism, has made fun of Trump, and has been calling people out for sexism, I don't think its entirely fair to call them pandering to the alt-right.

The MTV one has been widely mocked online for it's awakrd generalising on race and gender issues (I think MTV pulled the original) and the Buzzfeed one takes on a minor social fauz pass in a nonsensical way. It reminded me of Hbomber's style, but looking at awkard but well meaning left wing videos, rather than alt right videos? They weren't great videos - H3H3 is better when they're just talking about wierd videos in general, and neither of those were riffable enough.

Even if Ethan meant well and is not a heel (haven't really watched his videos, just heard the buzz), it might stoke the fires/egos of people with worse opinions and actual assholes. Look how many comments you get when someone like Jontron makes a controversial remark that praise him for speaking THE TRUTH. They have an effect on some of their audience, like it or not.

ElNarez posted:It's Worst Hit Songs Of 2016 time, hell yeah, death to 2016 I think that MGK song would have ranked higher if Todd had any familiarity with him. That song is loving depressing as hell because MGK's actually released really good stuff, and Lace Up was a super good mainstream hip hop album, but his signature was always having a sort of manic energy and these recent songs from him are so languid and completely devoid of the stuff that made him good. Like, on his debut album he has a set of bars where he rhymes mothafucka with mothafucka something like six times but there's so much venom and energy in his delivery it actually works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhDLn0xKNXc&t=142s Like, he was never super good, but he was destined to be a great mainstream hip hop artist and it's kinda sad how he went from a mainstream artist with interesting stuff about him to totally interchangeable with every other white guy rapper on the charts these days.

While Todd seems to be getting a bit out of touch with current pop music at times (I'm not saying he is to blame, just noticing), his comedy still works. The Sean Mendis part was right on point. I also am a person that thinks Me too is so stupid it wraps around to entertaining.

Happy to see Todd bring the "NOT A RHYME" bit back. The new font he's using is weird though. And I can respect Todd's thoughts on "Me Too," but if it was up to me, it would be in the bottom 5. Honestly, as much as I don't like Daya or the Chainsmokers, I didn't think "Don't Let Me Down" was that bad. In general though, good list for an awful year.
