Charney has been sued for sexual harassment at least half a dozen times, but has never been convicted of anything. The guy's speed-dial is probably all sexual harassment lawyers. The fashion industry is just incredibly sleazy overall, or so I've been told, and photographers and editors pressuring models for sex is incredibly common. The exceptional thing about Charney is that, much like Terry Richardson, he doesn't even try to hide the fact that he's a creep, neither in personal appearance nor in the style of work. I mean you'd think any jury would convict them on their looks alone, but nope, Charney has never been convicted, and Richardson has photographed Obama.

C. american apparel?

Close to 90 percent of Gildan's 42,000 employees are Caribbean and Central American countries where costs are lower, and the company does not manufacture clothes other than socks in the United States.

Gildan had previously said it would take into account that American Apparel's U.S. manufacturing heritage is a component of the brand, but had noted that its manufacturing plan would also consider factors like transportation and energy costs.

American Apparel LLC said it had started to lay off staff on Monday, after Canadian apparel maker Gildan Activewear Inc (GIL.TO) withdrew its initial plan to acquire some of the bankrupt U.S. fashion retailer's manufacturing operations.

Gildan won the rights to American Apparel's brand with an $88 million bid in a bankruptcy auction last week. It had previously indicated it would assume some of its manufacturing operations, which had made the brand synonymous with "Made in the U.S.A."

Well, western middle-class feminism has largely been co-opted into being neo-liberal capitalist window-dressing , where emancipation and consumption have become interchangeable. Buying into the AA image is to signal that you are a liberated, modern woman who enjoys a bit of raunchy fun, and not "frigid" and "uptight". But in reality, you have only internalised the male gaze - sexual liberation, beginning in the 1960s, has never been about the liberation of women, but the male fantasy of the theoretically unlimited availability of pussy (and arsehole, I suppose).

that's how he got his massive advertising slash loving/cocaine budget past the investors, I'm sure

in reality i bet you the banner ad where you're like "is this dude about to rape someone" didn't get as many conversions as a company would want

like for example, you see this and go 'lookin for some clothes lookin for some clo- oh... that's serial killer vibe as gently caress right there...'

AA has not made money since like 2009, so duh. So... sex doesn't sell? I guess the only thing left to do now is to wait and see if American Giant goes bust in 10 ten years' time, so we'd have a control group.

Seriously talk though, besides American Giant, is there any other company to whom I can pay :20bux: for a plain US-made t-shirt, without having some stoned barely-legal Midwestern girl on my conscience?

Subject: Grooming- Females

Hi everyone,

Please keep in mind that American Apparel is a retailer that celebrates natural beauty. We encourage employees to feel comfortable in their natural skin and natural state. This aesthetic is a part of the company image; as we do not photoshop our advertisements and our models appear in their natural state, it's important that this image is cohesive in the stores.

a) Makeup is to be kept to a minimal- please take this very seriously. Liquid eyeliner, pencil eyeliner and eyeshadow are advised against; mascara must look very natural (ie. should not be clumpy or a color that does not compliment your skin and haircolor). Blush must not be overdone- should not have glitter or sparkles. Liquid foundation is prohibited (undereye concealer is understandable if it looks natural- ie. not clumpy or caked on, must match your skin tone). Please do not use a shiny gloss on your lips; any lipcolor must be subtle.
b) Eyebrows must not be overplucked. Full eyebrows are very much encouraged. Please do not dye your eyebrows a different color.
c) We encourage long, healthy, natural hair, so please be advised of the following:
-Hair must be kept your natural color.
-Blow-drying hair excessively could cause heat damage, so this is advised against.
-"Bangs" or "fringe" are advised against. It is not part of the direction we're moving in.
d) Jewelry must not be distracting. Please do not wear accessories with another brand's logo on it- this includes watches. No gauges whatsoever. One earring per ear is encouraged. Earrings, necklaces, watches, bracelets, etc. must be simple and tasteful. Please E-mail me or work@americanapparel.net with a photo if you have any questions about a specific piece of jewelry you'd like to wear in the store.

Below are photo examples of staff from around the world as well as photos I've extracted from the website. Managers should circulate these photos and the suggestions I've made to their staff. Please let me know if you have any questions. You can call or E-mail me anytime.

Katherine
