DancingShade posted:I just assume anything truly valuable isn't even on the exchange anymore thanks to inflation. But yeah at this point inflation is so absurd that credits are nearly worthless and you have to deal in commodities. It's a big part of why I basically quit... a few years ago you could get more than enough to buy ships and such with normal play, contra farming, a bit of exchange manipulation, and what not, but these days it's basically pointless unless you're already loaded or willing to drop real money.

Asimo posted:If they raised the exchange limit to 1b it probably would have helped just due to the pressure of competition and idiot pubbies undercutting each other to sell faster; see how basically everything promo besides the Connie has gone down like a rock since the limit changed. But people whined, it was only raised to 750, and that just isn't enough to handle something that's both rare and in super high demand. And there's no real downward pressure once things are in-person trade only, since you can only see the inventory of whoever's selling at that particular time, and it's usually just one person. Every item in the game except for 4 items are traded in ec. The keys people trade for those 4 are themselves traded in ec. A lot of stuff is cheap, a few things are super expensive.

Just started playing, what should I be doing with my dilithium. Do I need it at end game to buy gear or should I sell it for zen? edit: also is there anything in particular I should be doing with duty officers or just sending them on whatever missions I can send. I assume that for r&d I just want to do the 20 hour research projects to get my levels up. Namaer fucked around with this message at 21:39 on Jan 16, 2017 |

Do the missions that yield the most xp. That's how i got my levels up with doffs.

Are you going to be playing for X hours in a sitting? Send DOFFs on missions shorter than that so you can get the rewards and queue up something else before you log off. Otherwise, yeah, just grab the most rewarding missions (which are generally the longest-duration ones) and don't sweat it much. For the record Admiralty is basically the same idea but be sure to have enough ships left for the longer higher-reward missions when you're about to log off, and for R&D just queue the 20-hour XP missions unless you're actually crafting something.

Would it be worth it for new players to try and run the purple doff chains or is that not a thing anymore?
|
# ? Jan 17, 2017 07:35 |

If you mean the colonial ones, they're still there, though it's slow going unless you have a steady stream of colonists, so I wouldn't go out of my way to do them until you get admiralty or you have alts that can feed you colonists. It's also useful to explore a bit and figure out the sector boundaries that will reset the colony missions so you don't have to wait around for the chain ones to appear (I think it's determined by where the old sector blocks were but I'm not sure).

# ? Jan 17, 2017 14:40 |

The colony chains can still be useful, the doffs aren't unique so you can rerun the last mission to snag purple security officers for ground security escort spam and various tacticals to throw at marauding missions if you're KDF. Doff stats and locations: Fed List KDF List

The whole A2B build thing though is not as important these days so don't worry about grinding for those ones in particular.
|
# ? Jan 18, 2017 11:19 |

To elaborate, an A2B build still works, and it's alright as an entry-level thing, but between Aux power tying into a lot more traits/powers and the opportunity cost of A2B technicians over other (more expensive) doffs it's probably something you'd only use until you got your reps leveled up, bought better traits, etc. The fact it was the only actually doff build which didn't involve lockbox poo poo but still worked in the endgame has nothing to do with why it's been persistently and indirectly nerfed over time, of course.

The effort involved in setting up the macro, getting the doffs, setting up the build etc just isn't worth the reward. Just set up a standard no nonsense build and you'll be fine.

I don't know how it will measure up to the Dyson one but anything that makes the typical pubbie slightly less likely to die to trash mobs is probably a good thing. Just hope whatever the wrist gun is has an exploit attack because expose is poo poo.
