"Users may experience delayed or clipped screens while running 3D rendering apps (such as games) on systems with more than one monitor," the change-log for the KB3213986 update reads. "To work around this issue please consider the following options: 1. Running the application in Windows mode (not full screen), or 2. Starting the application with only one monitor connected," it adds. The update effectively cripples multi-monitor gaming,

I used to manage a call center for match.com. They farmed out the photo/profile approvals offshore, but when calls were slow our agents could work the approval queues. It was fun interviewing nice old ladies and explaining to them they may see a dick or two during the course of their job.

we hit a bootstrap problem here in that everybody working on the AI would still have to look at the pictures

there are procedures for taking a corpus of known digests of bad images and programmatically comparing them with digests of new images to figure out whether the new images are the known bad images, but the holes in that approach are equally obvious, (1) new content and (2) sooner or later someone has to manually classify and add the bad ones to the corpus

it is a bad problem

hone your algorithms on less disturbing proxy images, then set up a working relationship with people who are trained to professionally deal w/this stuff and let them keep a database up-to-date.

this isn't a proposal meant to meet a legal evidence standard, we're talking about moderating images on websites, right? do best effort, err towards not censoring, and put an appeal process in place that requires some tie to a real life identity-- if you're willing to say who you are, you're probably not posting poo poo that will get you arrested. the biggest issue in my mind would be that the FBI, etc would be able to institute de facto censorship of legal images using this system, so you would definitely want a robust mandatory appeal process

qntm posted:

E: the alternate solution is alarming in a more black mirror way, namely the computer claims a 100% safe image of two people playing chess in the park is child pornography and the authorities take the photographer away and sentence them while persistently ignoring all pleas for someone to actually look at the image

E2: after that second scenario stays in place for a little while, you would hit a slightly even more dystopic point where the designated Individual Who Looks For Real just lies about what they see and accepts the computer's judgement, or doesn't bother to look at all

it would be unconstitutional to have an automated system that didn't allow defendants to show the images in question to their own experts. right to face your accuser and all that

more keys means a breach is less damaging and there is no effect to clients that are properly configured. there is no downside to doing it and you gain minor security benefits.

idk. it doesn't really matter. they could generate new keys tomorrow and you'd have the same issue because you aren't properly validating the certificates.

they generated new keys a while ago, remember when office.com didn't have a valid ssl cert

it was a cumulative update. the x64 package is just under 1 GB.

if you haven't updated gfor a while windows will just go through chronologically, not bothering to check whether any older updates are included in teh cumnulative.
