I randomly watched a comedy special on Netflix that was the comedy central roast guy doing one at a prison. They interviewed the warden and he was like: Turns out prisoners behave better when there's a carrot to go with the stick, so we said, behave for 2 months and you get to go to a comedy show and most of the prisoners did. He also shot a few bits with him walking around talking to guys in general pop that was pretty great. So yeah, this prison let a dude come in and basically egg on prisoners for awhile, and it seemed like about as good as you could expect for an american prison.

There's a miniseries where Gordon Ramsay goes to a british prison and teaches them to make baked goods, it makes you feel really good when Gordon kinda takes the warden to task when he's being a dick to some of the inmates.

I spent 2 years reading all the front page articles and content like Photoshop Friday, Comedy Goldmine, and Fashion Swat before I even figured out that a forum existed. Somehow I never really questioned where all that content came from.

The forums I was on previously died when an admin stole all the money and I stumbled onto SA because of his quake 3 map reviews and just kind of found myself reading current events. Also the Deus.se.cx article was the first time I saw the goat man. At some point they posted they'd be making the forums have a $10 registration fee so that's when I registered an account and I pretty much just lurked until SAS was created.

Took the assyrians and later the Persians a long rear end time to adjust. Silly persians trying to chase steppe tribes around for decades. The only people who got it right in history really quickly were the chinese who'd just sortie out every now and then and do some killin' and then go back home.
