Really because I was under the impression that most of the jobs created under the Obama administration have been low-paid, service industry jobs with little in the way of security or benefits while decent jobs continued to be outsourced at an alarming rate.

I mean it seems like the election of Donald Trump kind of proves that Obama was a failure don't you think? That's why he had such a grump-face at the inauguration

hey i have a question about our stupid civil court system

if congress passed the equivalent of the Ermächtigungsgesetz to give trump dictatorial powers, pretty much everyone would agree it was unconstitutional, but who exactly would have "standing" to get it into the court system?

Think about how much a modest commercial office building costs to build in a suburban area with roads and water and electricity available.

Now think about doing this in the middle of nowhere with no amenities at all, no food, no power, no nothing. Everything has to be trucked in. Everything.

Even if you're forming West Bank style concrete slabs, they're being dragged in across tens of miles of roadless wilderness.

Then there's the foundation excavation so that the loving thing doesn't just fall over in the first big hurricane that blows through.

The border wall makes the Space Elevator look like a sober rational proposition.

And if he's issuing EO's that involve how moneys are apportioned then he actually needs to go to congress, and if he issues orders that are vague agencies can and will just ignore them or do completely bizarre things because they don't provide clear instruction

Most importantly, and this is something to remember as these things start going to court, when the executive or government issues vague and/or unclear laws and/or orders, the jurist who is most likely to strike them down is a textualist.

You will note what type of judges republicans want.

You're ignoring delivery costs. Have you ever seen the border? Have you checked how far much of it is from, like, roads? Raw materials cost (concrete and rebar I guess) is probably a relatively minor part of the overall cost.

Well building the wall is kind of like America punching itself in the face. It won't do anything and it's going to cost a lot of money.

If you're really serious about stopping the flow of undocumented people, you need to hire more people to police it. Otherwise people will just build ladders or seige-machine like steps to get themselves over.

Completely hosed. But honestly, and I'm an "EVERY FIGHT MATTERS" kinda person, and as lovely as this is, it really doesn't matter right now. They'll quietly kill it next week and our necks will be so deep in garbage we'll barely notice.

I loved that Tubman was going to be on the $20. I think it would have a real effect on society to see her face everyday. When we kick these fascists and cowards out of our country, we'll put her on every loving bill.
