They offer now offer half baked platitudes and passive aggressive responses instead of the outward hostile ones of earlier. To reiterate what has been said, they should really just shut this thing down and come back with a more fleshed out product. Some amazing games have started by posting their pitches on SA and I just could not imagine pitching here unless my poo poo was polished. But they just continued with the pathetic shill. I wouldnīt really compare that, because...
1) Its on FIG and we donīt know how much of that sum is given by Obsidian itself
2) Its FIG and thatīs terribad for a whole lotta reasons that I donīt wish to recount but Iīm sure someone else in time will
3) Itīs from Obsidian, who already delivered several high-note products (note that I didnīt say quality ....I am still sore about Bloodlines...)
4) With the track record established, we can safely assume that this game will be made and released, especially as the groundwork from the first game already exists (this is a sequel, so...)
5) Much much better marketing and niche branding
6) Despite being Obsidian, these guys are industry veterans with a huge number of medium- to high-quality titles under their belt. They know what they are doing.
7) People really like the isometric Pause-Combat-Style Not-Baldurs-Gate-RPG

I saw that there was a first thread, but I did not check it out as I felt I got the gist from all the folks on the IGNORE list chiming in. As pointed out in the thread, you only have to do a google search to find out what these guys have done. In the few times I kickstarted or early access bought a game. I always did my homework. I feel like the days of folks just dropping a few hundred on impulse are gone.

And I know that I am the pot calling the kettle #000000 But it does strike me as a little disrespectful to be shilling a game with it's appeal based heavily on it's art style without buying yourself a sexy avatar showing off some of the games character or art. You really need to be respectful when you are shilling on a forum. People resent you coming in and selling to them unless you really understand the demographic. And one thing I always liked about goons is that they demand a good presentation. It's probably why it felt so cool seeing Dropsy on the Steam store page when we had been getting his warm damp hugs for years with all the content the creator had put out. I couldn't wait to play it.

The problem with that is that the art is "okay." It's not horrible, and just by looking at some of the characters I can instantly identify them as being both French and from the time of the French Revolution. Having said that, it's not good by any stretch: the designs are boring and uninspired. They are technically sufficient, but nothing about any of the characters identifies anything about their personality or their motives.

I only really like the more 'realistic' anime art and anything too over the top cutesy or over sexualized doesn't do it for me. That said, I do really dig stylized anime stuff like One Punch Man and Kill la Kill is pretty cool (even though that show is against my argument). I guess it's better to say I don't like bad anime art. And coming at it from someone who flip is not instantly switched by anime in the first place. I have to ask, why? To me it makes it look like the most generic poo poo in the world you would see on Steam or the PSN. I am sure experts in the styles could better explain it, but if you are using this art style to sell your story. Why not make the story and art a bit original from the cookie cutter J-RPG style. I would play an anime game in a heart beat if it captured the same mood as Grave Of The Fireflies during the French Revolution. A story with real stakes and shows the reality of that period in history.

So why even use the French Revolution? If you wanted to keep the light tone, You could go all Disney's Treasure Planet with spaceships and laser guillotines in space France and it would excuse the tonal disparity. You can have your cake and eat it with plague doctor spacesuits and mono wire fencing foils. But this just limits the scope and appeal of your game.

I might be lynched for saying this but one thing FF7 did arguably well was mix tones. I mean the game starts with this dark world filled with kinda goofy characters, but the art matched the tone of the dark story. It was pretty depressing. And then when you break out into the open world and it gets a bit more fun the art is practically Disney with the giant chickens and Gold Saucer. And even there you go to this desert prison and the mood drops. That to me was always the greatest accomplishment of that game and in my opinion the best anime and manga. It's why Cowboy Bebop can have Radical Edward running around with a cool as gently caress Spike. At this point there is no point trying to talk to the devs. But it's worth keeping in mind for other people. I know very little about anime and would love to hear about someone who finds it a useful genre or style over conventional western art. Either in a game or whatever.

Story, 2 days ago early morning i tested thermidor, So about a 2 hours in and im just sitting on my carpet staring at it, watching the anime, then i see a big rear end guillotine(about 1.5 meters large)in the corner of my eye, didnt think anything of it, i honestly thought is was not real because it was a glowing pink color, then i felt a tickle on my right side and then a pinch.
i got up so drat fast that i almost tripped, after that lil stumble i thought i was dying from guillotine venom that just entered me and it scared the living poo poo outa me, i look on the floor to see if the guillotine is still around and i could of sworn i loving saw like 300 baby guillotines, so i ran to my living room couch and laid down into a fetal position and started to repeat "im okay" for a very long time as my dogs tried to hump me, the funny part was chant du départ was playing the whole time on a loop
After the revolution was over i went to a doc and he gave me a antianime. I mean the revolution dont sound that insane, i bet the whole nightmare part lasted a hour before i calmed myself down, but it felt like ages and i thought i was ganna die. Now i get anxiety before i sleep because that guillotine is still lurking in my room, i was thinking about using cakes for that, because im trying to avoid fruits because my area had high rear end prices per piece and dont do bulk
