Centers are also less likely to stretch the floor, although more and more of them are starting to take threes (Boogie, KAT, Embiid).

zoux posted:Can anyone articulate the difference between a PF and a C in the modern game? Centers are seen as players with poor lateral movement but excellent physical presence. You won't see them go out farther from the paint to guard people as they will typically be patrolling around the lower blocks. Through being big and tall with the ability to somewhat jump, a classical center will guard the rim and the area about three feet from the basket to protect against close up shots. Inversely they will be around this area on the offensive side in order to get easy layups and dunks, and thus forcing a player on the opposing team to occupy them on defense away from the guards and forwards. Power forwards are seen as the more athletic version of centers. They will be asked to crash the basket for rebounds, as in using their athleticism to run and jump past stationary rebounders. On defense they typically will guard the pick and roll and higher blocks, or the weakside of the formation (the side where the ball isn't on). Power forwards are expected to have an inside/out game where they can shoot with range or close in for dunks/layups, typically through using their legs to gain position from a farther space away from the basket. In all honesty though either position can feature athletic big men that can guard a variety of positions while having a dual threat offensive game. It's just more common to see more graceful, athletic big men who are shorter (6'8 to 6'11 typically) than 7 footers.

Niwrad posted:https://twitter.com/KCJHoop/status/825037062390824962 I mean, the rest of this drama is pretty lol, but these kinds of things are just trying to get people in trouble. Of course a star player is going to say he is influencing how the team is coached and of course the coaching staff isn't going to say certain players have more sway than others. It's like that stupid thing when people make a big deal about consulting with players over coaching picks. If you're paying a guy $30 million because he is one of the best basketball players ever, his input is pretty valuable on coaching, but in order for your locker room to work you can't go out and say "Lebron/whoever has veto power over this hire". A double standard here exists so everyone can save a little face. I mean, the organization is a giant tire fire right now and Hoiberg is woefully not cut out to keep the ship straight, but I'd rather crucify him for the stuff he actually does wrong than this.

I can definitely see the argument for Gobert over him, but Draymond is better than KAT. And this is coming from a huge KAT fan. Durant obviously has suppressed the offense of a lot of other Golden State players, but Draymond seems a better fit than Klay (though one is a G the other a F). KAT will be better than Draymond probably pretty soon, but right now Draymond would help almost any team more than KAT would.
