Pastry of the Year posted:Arlo and Janis Manuel Calavera posted:Tina's Groove Johnny Walker posted:This is a little off-topic, but I am reminded of how much of a ripoff TV shows on VHS were, not to mention what a waste of space it was. They put literally one episode per tape most of the time. To have a whole series you'd have to have a dedicated shelf just for that one, and probably pay ~$20 per, and for any longer-running series it was completely impractical. I also have one here that's ten random episodes of Voltron. Sure, it's better than one episode, but it's hardly ideal. Tiggum posted:It didn't end with VHS either. To be fair, I assume that's a full storyline with four episodes. The complete Tales from the Darkside I'm watching right now has eight per disc, but the quality is also just a bit better than VHS (I'm finding it rather charming though). The 10 random episodes thing is annoying though.

Tiggum posted:It is, but that's out of a 26-episode season, and if you bought all of classic Doctor Who that way it's 155 DVDs (as opposed to 26 if it was one per season). It's fine, I suppose, if you're just buying a few of your favourite stories, but it's ridiculous if you want a complete collection. True, but unless something radically changes you're never going to get a complete collection, so I guess that colours my perception of trying to get all of Doctor Who.

Releasing it one per story makes perfect sense to me because normal people can just get the ones they like while collectors are insane and if they're gonna drop so much dough on having a complete collection anyway they may as well be milked for a bit more.

Phimosissy posted:That, or bad writing. I'd almost argue it's good writing (or at least better) as, initially, bootleg Quagmire's terrible personality traits were all presented as positive and Skip had absolutely no qualms with him. Really this whole arc is kind of fascinating to watch unfold as, previously, they treated his living with his mother as bordering on something to be desired. It's like someone finally pointed out to Reddick how bonkers that portrayal was. Oh god, it's me, I'm the Intelligent Life reader.
