My favourite thing from the misery mod was doing the tunnel escort and spawning 50 exoskeletoned loners then watching them ravage the whole place. Then that destroyed my savegame, oops. This CoC thing looks pretty neat, what other good mods are compatible with it?

Hi peeps! I just got Stalker: Call of Pripyat, never played it or other Stalkers before. Anything I should know? It seems hard to navigate, also I have some glitches( hanging screen), can I do something to get rid of them?

There's the three big gun addition ones, but I don't know which is best and reading the comments there makes it sound like none of them are completely perfect.

It seems hard to navigate, also I have some glitches( hanging screen), can I do something to get rid of them? Been a long good while since I played something like vanilla; the standard answer used to be to get AtmosFear and one of the weapon mods like arsenal overhaul. That would mean installing this http://www.moddb.com/mods/atmosfear-for-call-of-pripyat and then something like this (OWR 3) http://www.moddb.com/mods/original-weapons-renewal-3. Alternatively you can install this (SHOKER) http://www.moddb.com/mods/shoker-weapon-mod so install atmosphear 3 first, the guns after. I always liked shoker but it uses its own lua injector-thingy so it's unlike any other stalker mod made, and totally incompatible with any other mods. Oh,btw: Welcome to stalker tias! Learn to use quicksave, no joke. Stalker is like ARMA/operation flashpoint with savescumming and radiation, and it's the best game ever made. I am playing through all of these games for the first time (well, I got SoC when it came out and got to the bar before quitting in frustration) and just today finished CS and started CoP. I did not care for the last, post-Limansk part of CS very much; it got waaayy too hard so I had to lower the difficulty *and* cheat myself an exoskeleton. CoP seems better so far, I liked SoC a lot so CS was quite a letdown. CoC looks super awesome and I am looking forward to seeing how they integrated the entire Zone since the games feel so different. Should mention that I am only using the ZRP/Complete mods, and none for CoP. Any recommended mods for a second run through of SoC? Want to do the real ending next time...

Autumn Aurora is well worth a playthough. If you're feeling really adventurous then you can try the latest OGSE. I think ModDB has a really good AA repack too.

How the gently caress do people even install Shoker? It looks like there's just an install launcher on the ModDB page and when I try to run it everything's in gibberish since I don't have cyrilic font on my computer, and apparently there's no english version anywhere.

I can't think of many other games that have occupied my attention for 10+ years with interesting modding and good gameplay. Maybe like Doom is the only other one. Thanks for sharing the vid Marius! ThisIsJohnWayne posted:He's real loving annoying though. The only part I had to skip was his narrative sequence in the middle, but I think the point of that video was to appeal to people who have zero clue about STALKER or modding it past vanilla. Also the emphasis he puts on the stronger weapons mod is a little misplaced imo, because taking down SEVA Duty with a piddly 9mm pistol is really dumb. But overall I didn't find the guy that annoying.

Yes, being able to kill someone in armor with a pistol without AP ammo is dumb, but it's more fun for them not to be worthless like in vanilla SoC. I remember last time I played SoC I emptied 16 rounds from a P99 into a military guy at 5 feet. He survived and killed me while I was reloading.

It's funny he fell right for the trap of less effective weapons on lower difficulty. Damage on master has always felt about right to me but I never try to do much with pistols for very long either.

Arsenal overhaul has unbearable issues with arm viewmodels clipping through the camera. I'd ask if anyone has noticed this but they're literally in your face and it's on version 5 of its 3rd incarnation. If you don't know what I mean pick up an AVT-40 with an exosuit or one of the more advanced duty or military suits. Not to mention many of the guns are blatantly missing surfaces. OWR doesn't really have this unless you have the MP5. And the gun models are actually well made. The only guns I really have issue with are the desert eagle and the 1911 when they have their slides back. A few others while reloading. The one thing AO3 has over it in my opinion are the brass sprites, which look goofy in OWR. The best part about STALKER is you can combine the best parts of mods easily. Already took the brass sprites from AO3 and put them in OWR. NeoSeeker fucked around with this message at 02:10 on Feb 7, 2017 |

There's this one PPSh-something something gun I've seen in several mods like misery which is ridiculously lower quality than pretty much everything else in those mods. The sight doesn't actually point straight up (how was this not noticed?) and the reload animation is hilariously janky looking and bad. I've never bothered using it because it looks so dumb. There's a couple of other guns I've found in mods that just sort of don't have polygons at all in various places. Owl Inspector fucked around with this message at 02:35 on Feb 7, 2017 |

Warfare mod is now currently released. You know the mod that turns the zone into a giant warzone and you and your faction take it over. Compatible with dynamic faction relations. Holy loving poo poo I've been waiting for this for a long while.

I got Shoker working, but now messing around with Call of Chernobyl and installing the Warfare mod I feel like the biggest idiot. Like, isn't there supposed to be an overlay on the PDA showing red and green circles marking places where you can take over? The options for Warfare stuff show up on the main menu options so it's seemingly installed properly (and it's only like a fuckin 120-whatever kb file anyway), and hitting the insert key on the PDA doesn't do anything. Did I gently caress something up? Edit: Nevermind, figured it out. Though it doesn't help that the mod doesn't exactly have a comprehensive readme; things changed from issuing commands with the insert key to doing it by right-clicking on the map, though it doesn't explain what influence does or how much you need to do stuff like request backup. http://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl/addons/warfare-0181 <----- link to warfare mod, looks like they updated again today. Played around with it a bit and after figuring out the squad controls everything seemed to work alright, with a crash here or there as xray likes to do. Hopefully the warfare team provides some more documentation as to what stuff like influence does or what taking over a faction does.

I really wish that weapon packs were designed to be more modular... out of the three weapon packs I'd choose OWR but there are plenty of gun models done better in the other two packs AND there are plenty of guns from the other packs I'd like in OWR.. Basically it would be nice to cherry pick and make your own pack easily. Right now it seems to be quite a tedious effort.

And I've been sucked back into playing Stalker. I gave the series a break shortly after CoC came out because I was bored of playing through the same old story missions, Stalkersoup was cool but full of stuff I didn't understand and I was bored of freeplay mods because it seemed really dull if you weren't into walking miles for a 'kill this guy' or 'fetch this thing' quests. Now though I have CoC, a buttload of addons plus my PC has had a few upgrades since I last played. I'm really loving the addition of marauding Monolith squads and pack of zombified stalkers. That plus the full A-life simulation, where I occasionally hear distant gun fights, makes the Zone feel a lot more like a real place. I really like how I can fail quests because NPCs aren't immortal. Is there a time limit on quests though? I failed a whole lot at once recently and I'm sure Skadovsk didn't get nuked or anything.
