Can I move, Slam and then if Ahsoka is in R1 use the free action she can give to drop a bomb with the action header since a bomb is not an attack?

Well you already have Advanced SLAM, so you can already do this without Ahsoka.

It's more than half Palp's price, it's range-limited and costs an action, and requires several rounds to build to full effectiveness, and can only go on a YV.

Seems pretty OK to me?

I mean seriously, y'all mock these homebrews, and some of them are a bit borked, but very few of them are as utterly outrageous as you imply.

Bala-tik - rerolling is nowhere near as strong as changing, but yeah, that's a bit undercosted probably, particularly as it can work multiple times in a round if you build it up. But bump it to 5 or 6, or add a range limit, it's probably OK.

Otherwise those mostly seem fine.

So I had to sell my collection of X-Wang stuff before I moved, and I'm thinking about getting back into ti. How do you guys generally find games going on?

Also, I'm planning on grabbing a starter set again and starting to build up my force - are there any real differences between the Force Awakens starter set and the previous one? Also, are all 3 of the forces pretty well balanced now? Or do I want to stay away from the Scum (or whoever)?

Force Awakens has the T-70 X-wing and First Order TIEs as well as a slightly updated rulebook and the new damage deck.

If you're serious, get both starters. You will eventually, and having a set of dice that can cope is very helpful.

The factions are reasonably balanced at the moment. Rebels lag a touch behind the other two maybe, at high level competition, but you won't notice it in FLGS play.

The problem with the Hondo Ohnaka crew is that if both players bring one it effectively invalidates both, which isn't something that any other upgrade in the game really does.

Hey, yeah I just threw up a listjuggler entry for the tourny here:
http://lists.starwarsclubhouse.com/get_tourney_details?tourney_id=2569

While I'm at it, for anyone who cares, here's what I ran to win 7-0 at a ~30 person tourny with some extremely strong players:

Kylo Ren (34)
Adaptability (0)
Fire-Control System (2)
Emperor Palpatine (8)

Darth Vader (29)
Adaptability (0)
Advanced Targeting Computer (1)
TIE/x1 (0)

"Omega Leader" (21)
Juke (2)
Comm Relay (3)

Total: 100

I wasn't sold on the Kylo shuttle (or Vader for that matter...) but honestly I think coordinate isn't balanced for 100 pt games. Especially moving at PS7, Kylo is able to pre-barrel roll your aces against defenders which are generally <= PS6. Also, you can coordinate focuses etc before Sloops/Kturns which is insane. There were multiple instances where someone tried to set a block up on my ships and I was able to just coordinate a barrel roll before they moved and turn it into a range 1 fulled modded arc dodged shot on the blocker.

The 4 points for Kylo over a starkiller base pilot are probably worth it even if he didn't have the condition, just the pilot skill. The condition just makes it silly.

Might try switching to VI Kylo without FCS, and changing Vader for Inquisitor (ptl autothrusters title), but having Vader at PS10 helps against Fenn Rau quite a bit. Not really sure. Anyways, give it a shot if you're looking for something to play with the Upsilon.

Cool, thanks! That was a pretty chill tournament, I'll definitely be back up for another. Having a round end early and heading to the counter to buy a beer was a nice touch

I grabbed an upsilon shuttle while I was there, and I'm looking at 3 lists for it right now.

Lieutenant Dormitz (41) - Upsilon-class Shuttle
Fire Control System (2), Kylo Ren (3), Tactician (2), Hyperwave Comm Scanner (1), Kylo Ren's Shuttle (2)

Omega Specialist (30) - TIE/SF Fighter
Snap Shot (2), Fire Control System (2), Special Ops Training (0), Twin Ion Engine Mk. II (1)

I like the idea of OA and OL escorting a shuttle, there's some serious damage potential there with ISYtDS and OA handing out crits like candy. I'm partial to the Zeta swarm too, though...and as the TIE/SF, I really want for 2 of them to be good, but I think I'm overly hopeful about it.

A revolution of beats
The more I play around with Kylo and see Kylo played the less I think he is better than having Palp. It just seems setting up a list to be able to guarantee a crit when you want it would be better served with palp helping to make sure that that last shield goes down or that your ship doesn't take a hit or adding an additional crit using Mareek Steele in an ATC Tie Advanced so you get to pick 2 cards out of six. Blinded pilot is good but the rest of the pilot crits are very, very situational.

I'm sure it comes down to a matter of play style, but I really don't see myself using him that often. I do look forward to eating decimators alive though. I love shooting big fat 0 agi ships.

This used to be the norm and you even had frequent periods where ships were 40+% off. Asmodee has since shut down deep discounting as a normal online practice so you only get 10-15% off normally - anything more is a bonus nowadays.

Chicago regionals were the first major regionals after wave 10.

Top 16 cut is really interesting. http://lists.starwarsclubhouse.com/get_tourney_details?tourney_id=2570

There's not a lot of wave 10 content up there (There is a RAC/Kylo and Whisper list, and a Upsilon(Kylo)/OL/Inquisitor list), but there's some really weird stuff there. There were more HWKs than Defenders in the cut, including the champ with a mindlink Palob/Asajj/Manaroo list).

Not sure if it's just a hugely varied meta or if the wave 10 stuff shut down a lot of the things we'd normally expect to see in Swiss.

That first list is probably a solid Tier 2 competitive choice. It'll struggle with top-end lists, but well-flown has a chance. Nora hits like a truck and stress control is really good.

That Nien is one of my favorite ships to fly in the game. (Also consider Stay On Target + Targeting Astro + pattern analyzer for him. If you can get into range 1 you'll have TL + whatever other action)

For hilarity, switch out Nora for Ten Numb with Ion Cannon, mod that gives you a crew, 0-point EPT of your choice, and Bistan crew. Uncancelable ion damage + stress is nasty for small ships.

I've wanted to make a Tie/D list that works for a while. I noticed this did well at one of the regionals from a couple weekends ago:

Colonel Vessery (35)
Expertise (4)
Tractor Beam (1)
Twin Ion Engine Mk. II (1)
TIE/D (0)

"Pure Sabacc" (22)
Trick Shot (0)
Adaptive Ailerons (0)

"Quickdraw" (29)
Expertise (4)
Fire-Control System (2)
Lightweight Frame (2)
Special Ops Training (0)

Total: 100

I like the targeting priority issues it brings, but I don't like that Pure Sabacc can't take a TL to support Vessery. Otherwise I figure it's pretty strong. Any obvious changes you'd make?

Try not to have "one critical piece" in a list. If you build a list where it all falls apart if you lose one single ship, any reasonable foe will see that and make it his top priority.

Other than that, just accept that losses are inevitable and try to come out ahead of any trade. It's kind of like chess in that regard.

One of the easiest ways to do that is to just keep all your dudes together and get them to the fight at the same time. If you do that, and your opponent does not, you're probably going to win the exchange.

A lot of characters now feature in X-Wing! :v:) but as someone who saw the movie and first season of the CGI Clone Wars series a while back, would I be missing out on a lot if I skipped directly to Rebels? Since I may have recently bought the Rebels film...plus the first two seasons. :v: So I'm uncertain as to whether I should just get down to it and start on Rebels, or if it would be more beneficial for me to finish the Clone Wars first. (Does it get better after S1? I didn't find it to be too bad, but I dunno, a fair few of the episodes just didn't really grip me back then)

The latter half of Season 2 is when it starts to get better (I think that's when the creators started getting feedback WRT Ahsoka) and it steadily improves as it goes from there, though there are a couple dud episodes along the way. Rebels doesn't really require much prior knowledge, so if you want you can go ahead and start, but in Season 2 they start bringing back a few Clone Wars characters that it wouldn't hurt to be familiar with.
