Holy poo poo, for a second there I thought I was in a Space Dandy episode - the plot suddenly swerved into uncharted territory, and these people are just so delightfully stupid Also: Diana delivering ultra-haughty truthbombs. It's like she wants to help, but she can't do it without being an rear end about it I was already on board with this before the show even started, but THIS is the point where, if it were already completed, I would start shotgunning the whole series because the entire cast is lots of fun and I want to see Diana get the comeuppance/friendship she deserves. Secret highlights: "Noooo don't eat me I taste awful" "What, no, I'd never eat a witch, especially not one as grungy as you" "HOW DARE YOU I'M DELICIOUS" That, and techno wizard being seriously miffed that her bazooka missed

Also, Amanda is the best and her and her little band of miscreants should get their own show.

Diana's only mistake is trying to deal with the problem children herself instead of just ignoring them. Though the ancient language was really clumsy and I'm worried Trigger is going to turn her into a deus ex machina just so that Akko can look better when she ekes out a contrived victory of some kind.

Seriously, tho, how does this magic dealie even work? It looks like they are all dependent on the stone, and without it, everything shuts down (maybe not potions, I guess?). There must be more to this, right? I mean, Chariot was doing magic on her own just fine, so I suppose witch graduates carry around their own power sources or something? Wouldn't make much sense otherwise...

Maybe the inconsistencies regarding magic sources are one of the main plot points in LWA ? something like witches having gotten too accustomed to "fixed" magical power sources over the centuries and having lost their old ability to just make magic by ~~~believing in their dreams~~~ which Akko will turn out to be remarkably good at because she wasn't trained "traditionally" ? I have no idea if that's actually the direction Trigger is going to take, but I could see that happening, that's all.

Akko can light up a normal wand now at least. That's progress!

Constanze was my favorite part of this episode, and I really hope we get to see more of her. I'd ask what she's even doing in a magic school to begin with, but then I realize that she's the embodiment of Clarke's third law.
