http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000785171/article/john-lynchs-daughter-the-49ers-are-horrible

quote:

Most general managers and coaches sit squarely in a vortex of meaningless words, spewing non-answers and droning on about nothingness. Their children, however, can speak the truth.

Speaking with NFL Network's Michael Silver on Thursday after his introductory news conference, 49ers GM John Lynch told the story of his 9-year-old daughter getting upset after his hiring by the team.

"I think the toughest one -- I haven't told this yet to the media -- all my kids took it really well," Lynch said. "They were shocked but they took it really well. My 9-year-old started bawling, and she's not that girl. She's the one that was always happy. And she was crying, and I said, 'What's wrong Leah? Are you afraid? Is there some nervous anxiety about moving?' And she said, 'No daddy,' and she was sobbing. And I said, 'What's wrong?' And she said, 'The 49ers are horrible.' So, I said, 'Well, I think that's why they hired your daddy."

Leah is not wrong. (Maybe she can get an assistant GM title?)

The 49ers own one of the worst rosters in the NFL. Their 2-14 season came a year after a 5-11 season. They are on their third coach in three years. They don't have a reliable quarterback. They have a bunch of No. 3 and No. 4 receivers. Their defense finished dead last in the NFL in stopping the run in 2016 (by more than 20 yards per game).

Lynch's job will be to quickly infuse talent into a roster worn thin by poor drafts, early retirements and injuries.

The 49ers are "horrible," to use Leah's word. Now Lynch and coach Kyle Shanahan are there to help resurrect the NFL's one-time model franchise.

It can't get worse, right?

Why you would want him? He is a good to very good TE that can block and catch passes.

Why you wouldn't want him? He declined a 7m py contract from New England before the 2016 season, which means his price is almost certainly considerably higher now. His track record with teams is not the best, often developing into some kind of locker room disturbance. In addition to that he is now used to winning and the Patriots way, which might make him flame out even faster if your team is struggles.

Buccaneers GM Jason Licht said K Roberto Aguayo "needs to have a great camp" to make the team.

"We will do everything we can to bring in the best competition at that position," said Licht. "I think Dirk [Koetter] even said he’s not locked into this roster." Aguayo is on notice after making just 71 percent of his kicks as a rookie last season. Pewter Report's Scott Reynolds suggests the Bucs could bring in Steven Hauschka to compete with Aguayo this summer. Hauschka is an impending free agent and probably won't be back with the Seahawks, who just signed former Vikings kicker Blair Walsh to a new deal.

1) So I found the average, which was 7.1.
2) I arbitrarily decided that I wanted to make the average = 75, so it's like grades in school. This has no real meaning other than being easier for my brain to process than the difference between 7.2 and 8.3 or whatever.
3) Divide 75 by 7.1. That gives you 10.6
4) Multiply everything by 10.6.

e: There is an easier way to do this, even. PFR has every stat for every player already indexed against the league average for every year, the only difference is that they index the league average to 100 instead of 75. If you want to turn them into "letter grade" #s just multiply them by .75, like this:

code:
Year	Age	AY/A+ ANY/A+	Rate+
2001*	24	79	77	83
2002	25	77	79	83
