Whether or not you watched something that is an exception to this rule like cowboy bebop isn't up for debate. I've got a Yotsuba avatar and it's also an exception to that but I don't feel the need to um actually for no reason

quote:

Okay, this is going to be a long story. This is on Twitter, so I'll be using some terms from there, but I'll try to define them as I go. Sorry if this gets a bit confusing.

I'm [15F] friends with a decent amount of people on Twitter. Of course, some people do get into squabbles at times, but I usually just mind my own business on that, and no one tries to force me to "pick a side." I guess I could be described by some as a doormat, but I really just try to make everyone happy.

However, I am at my wit's end with one friend. She [22F] will be referred to as "June" for the rest of this post. June followed me, I followed back, we become decent friends. She vents to me a lot, and while I have no good advice, I try to listen. We have been friends for about half a year or so.

June can be upset or act "weird" a lot of times. Not being able to get something in a game can make her upset for the whole day, and she tends to make grudges with such things. When she hates something, she hates it A LOT. On the other end, she can spend an hour or two just gushing on her profile about one character she really likes. She says in her about page (basically a page on another site that tells people about you, since twitter bios can only have so much) that she has Asperger's, so I try to understand her as much as possible. However, I feel like she is actively trying to push me against my other friends.

A lot of people have gender or sexuality ideas about characters, due to this fandom I'm in having many people that identify outside the typical "binary." I don't really have many headcanons, due to me being a cisgender girl whose sexuality is just "???" right now. I just let people do what they want, as long as it is not hurting anyone.

However, June is very....very against that. So much so I have concerns that might be a little phobic about something, no matter how much she says she isn't. Frequently she vents to me about how people are "forcing" the headcanons on to her, even though....no one does that. Most people just go "yeah i think x is :insert gender identity/sexuality:" I don't think anyone goes "X is :insert gender identity/sexuality: and if you don't think that you're wrong! " unless it's a joke or something. I mean, I really don't think anyone is going to harass her if she doesn't think a character is trans or whatever. She softblocked (basically blocking and unblocking to make someone unfollow you and you unfollow them) someone for having too many different ships for a character because she thought it was "fetishizing" but....that person was bisexual and polyamorous? I don't think a person can fetishize themselves, but I might be wrong.

In another case, June vented that she thought one of my friends unfollowed her because of one of her anger periods....but I think it's because earlier she was posting about her dead cat, and said friend really doesn't like discussion about that. I can't really blame anyone in this situation though, June had to vent and my other friend didn't like it. Although my friend said she didn't like talk of that right in her about page, so either June forgot about it or June didn't care at that moment. I should say I never told June about this when she was venting to me about it, it's been months though so I don't know if it was because I didn't want to offend her or because I didn't think of it at the time.

Really, I think the moment I was finally drained of her was a few days ago. Most of my friends had either unfollowed her, she softblocked them, or they never even followed her. We only have a few mutual friends now. She went a big rant on her profile about how the fandom is toxic and how she hated it. However, the big thing was when she implied that the fandom apparently told someone on another site to drink bleach and other such things because of a "problematic" drawing.

Now, I don't know everything about my friends. However, I highly doubt any of my friends would do such a horrible thing like telling someone to commit suicide. That's just wrong, and I feel like I would have heard about it way before this if anyone of my friends had done that. Of course, I could look it up and see, but I...don't know if I want to do that.

So ever since then, I have been so uncomfortable with talking to her. Whenever I see her on my timeline, I just have a terrible feeling in my stomach. I want to softblock her; my account is locked so unless I accept her refollow request she can never see my tweets or talk to me again.

However, whenever I think about it, all I think of is things like "How could you? You're one of her only good friends and you throw her away like a piece of trash." "Maybe she's right and all your other friends are toxic?"

The only person I feel like I could talk to about this is a mutual friend of me and June. He [13/14?M] will be referred to as Richard. Richard is a trans boy, he is bisexual, and he has autism. He has a decent amount of those headcanons I referred to above.

While Richard is our friend...June did vent to me that he sort of annoys her and drains her out. Apparently he argued with her and made a vague tweet about her at some point. Despite that, I honestly feel more sympathetic to him. I doubt he would want to hear that his headcanons annoy his friend. I want to tell him how I feel about June. However, I am worried he would be upset at me, since she is our friend after all. I could tell Richard what she said to me about him, but that seems like a violation of trust, since it was in a private message. (Then again, I'm talking about it here...but it's all anonymous) I'm just so confused.

tl;dr: My friend is being very negative and I think she is trying to push me away from my other friends due to them being "toxic." Should I ditch her? Or either way I answer that question, should I tell our mutual friend what she said about him in a private message?

In my experience, the teens who do this kind of poo poo are basically just teens, and most of them will grow out of it. The people you have to worry about are the ones like the 22-year-old in the story, who are very sad people and/or stay in that sort of fandom community mostly to have access to teens.

All your favourite video game characters are gay and trans.

quote:

My[22M] best friend 20[F] of 8 years has been regularly approached by a strange guy[24] from school who tells her off the wall things and makes us worried he's mentally ill. (very religious, sees things, goes out of his way to see her).

Okay so my best friend and I just started school together. There are a few people I'll mention in this. My[22m] best friend who we'll call Jesse[20f], her boyfriend[20m], and finally the weird guy who we'll call Steve[24m]. Jesse's told me all of these things over the past few weeks.
This has been going on for about a month now. I do not personally know Steve, but Jesse's boyfriend had a class with him last semester, and said he was very off. Steve took a liking to him and asked him after class if he'd like to hold hands with him and pray to which the boyfriend no. Since then Steve has not said a word to him.
So the first week of this semester Jesse found that she shared an entire free class period with Steve. Steve sat down with her since she was by herself and didn't have any friends to sit by, and quickly told her his story of how much of a die hard vegan, and Christian he was. He went on to say that he had seen visions of different religious figures and even talked to them. At one point Jesse stopped showing interest and Steve showed annoyance. Jesse didn't know how to respond. She said he gave off a really creepy vibe and made her uncomfortable.
Steve has approached a couple of Jesse's friends and other girls but most quickly show no interest in his stories. For some reason, even Jesse's attempt at not being interested isn't enough. At one time Steve told Jesse she was different from other girls, greatly adding to the creepiness.
Steve will go out of his way to get Jesse to see him. Once when she was sitting with a friend studying. She could see Steve getting up and sitting down in various spots around her peripheral vision in hopes she would say hello. Jesse ended up ignoring him and Steve finally just sat down between Jesse and her friend. Her friend, who does not like Steve told him Jesse was busy studying. Steve was quick to say how important her education was and left.
We noticed a pattern with Steve's interactions with Jesse. He seems to only approach her if she's alone or with another girl. For instance, after class one day, I walked to the library with Jesse. We both saw Steve, and he saw us, but he said nothing. He stood up, I guess waiting for her to acknowledge him and say hello, but she didn't so he just watched us awkwardly as we walked. He also does not approach Jesse if she is with her boyfriend. They even hugged in front of him in hopes that due to the rejection Steve received from him, would make Jesse less of an interest and he would stop approaching her.
Well unfortunately, last week we learned that was not the case. Jesse's been leaving right after class and going home between classes to avoid Steve. Unfortunately she got back to school too early and there he was. This time Steve said some really off putting things. He told her that he was no longer interested in God because God was a man and he liked women better and wanted to worship a woman. Then he said something that made us wonder if he was actually screwing with her. He said he wanted to start worshiping Santa Claus, "but not the kid kind, that'd be silly, the other kind". He also talked about seeing demonic visions and just weirder stuff than normal.
I don't know what to think of this. He sounds like a total schitzo. Almost every conversation consists of seeing something that's not real. I know some of what he's said might seem like a prank, but I seriously think he's delusional and I am worried for Jesse's safety. I don't see why he would put up with overly religious act for over a semester, and then now, say what he said. The santa thing sounds like trolling, but the demonic visions and stuff. I don't know. I've decided to rework my work schedule and I'm going to school an hour early to stay with Jesse before class so that Steve can back off.
The thing is, Steve hasn't done anything, he's just said off the wall poo poo to Jesse which makes us worried about what his intentions are. The whole worshiping women thing and this and that is creepy. It's just that in this day and age, you never know what's going on in people's heads or their intentions so it's scary.
Am I, and Jesse worried over nothing or does this guy actually seem like he could be a threat? Jesse is planning on telling her boyfriend to tell Steve to stop talking to her. I've been tempted to tell the school about him. But like I said, he's never threatened her.
Opinions greatly appreciated here, sorry if this was pointless but it's on my mind and I'm worried about my friend.
tl;dr: Best friend is regularly being approached by an apparent mental case who really likes her, and we're not sure what to do or if we should be worried.
