Gamer gate would have died right there and poo poo probaly wouldnt have gotten bad. but they pulled a Streisand effect. Can we all just admit that Chu (and alot of the others) just wanted to bang Quinn? I swear I have never seen someone derail a conservation multiple times to bring up some chick. "What is wrong with my interviewing?" "Ummmm.... Zoey Quinn." "I never interviewed Zoey Quinn. I meant Brenda Wu." "Dude but Zoey Quinn..." Rolfe doesnt do twitter poo poo, hell he doesnt even do drama, he never has. he does just videos for fun and because he loves making films, he isnt some sargon/alt right dickhead. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hz8X2A7wHyQ no yelling or screaming or anything.

I think that's accurate. I don't know. I found a few goonettes and female geek friends of mine who were over the moon over the new Ghostbusters. It's not my cup of tea (nor was the original to be honest), but I'm happy they were happy about it. I don't know why the likes of Patton and others really give a poo poo about people not wanting to see a movie. Feels like for every couple of Rolfes, Amazing Atheist's (can I insert a banana reference here?) and others? You had a lot of girls who were really enthusiastic about it. So why care?

FuzzySkinner posted:I think that's accurate. because they need to feel progressive and "hip" and for some reason they made that movie into the Verdun of culture war stuff aka "if your not with me, then your my enemy". like its an eh movie but it wasn't my thing in the 1st place and i never cared about 1(its funny enough) and 2(its poo poo). i like the actresses enough and i think with a different director(feige is terrible and falls on a crutch of just letting people riff for to long) and writers it could have been pretty funny. i think what pissed off alot of nerds(in my opinon at least and apart from the dumbfuck alt right.) was that sony did a poo poo job at marketing and when it went over badly, they started screaming at old fans and actively making GBS threads on them. if your going to do a reboot, you have to at least try to win over the sadbrains who love the franchise, aka like what episode 7 did. either good on people who genuinely enjoyed it. I don't quite know if his wife's death caused him to become the type of guy who just rages out at Piers Morgan to be honest. It's a possibility though. I feel bad for the guy. I saw my dad have to raise two kids after losing his wife, and to see Patton have to raise a daughter? Well yeah...that would loving suck.

Dapper_Swindler posted:these people are fools and why i hate IDpol dumbasses. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAbOlNemzFA&feature=share I think what bothers me is that the people that say this stuff often (ironically) seem to come from a place of privilege. To see someone who is so white they look like they should be in a propaganda poster for the third reich ranting about "White Supremecy", while enjoying the ability to make money as a result of their own privilege (be it race, be it the class that they came from) kinda speaks to their idiocy. I've had feminist/social justice friendly professors for example, that taught me a lot. It was never from a place of being condescending and they were very open to people asking questions about for example "Why the Cleveland Indians logo is racist". They never held a weird grudge against someone, and were able to explain it in a way that was more encouraging. It's more so a personal anecdote, but I appreciate them for introducing me to perspectives I'd have never considered otherwise. I'm sure that there are also goons here or other peeps that would educate people on various topics if someone genuinely wanted to engage in a discussion about it. I don't think it's so much that Id. Pol is the problem, as is this the sort of people that have hopped on the bandwagon to try to champion it's cause.

I don't understand how you can still be mad at jocks 20 years later. Similarly, the effort to convince people "toxic" masculinity is bad seems greater than the effort of going to the gym so you can benefit from it rather than whine. (USER WAS PUT ON PROBATION FOR THIS POST)

Yeah I'm getting that vibe for the latter as well. I recall learning some interesting defense of Iran and how women are treated within their state from a feminist professor I had. Something to the effect of as a society, they felt things were fine, and kinda preferred it to the western version of feminism. (I believe they're not allowed to play sports in front of men, was one of the things..if I am incorrect? I apologize. My memory is fuzzy.).
