I hate people that post like this. Sorry your palate is that of an uncultured baby. I drink one delicious beer with food three or four times a week and very rarely get blitzed any more.

They don't mean it honestly (and if they think they do they're just deluded), they are just trying to make their alcoholism sound normal and assume everyone is like them who only drinks to get drunk. He does have a point though in that if you are trying to get shitfaced, the taste of the beer doesn't particularly matter and if you regularly get blitzed on fine microbrews you're wasting your money.

You can't compare wildly different ABV beers like that. Try a sixer of steel reserve and I bet it will get you more or less as "blitzed" as your 12 dollars a six pack IPAs, at like 25% of the cost. Obviously the quality beer is objectively better but if you are trying for "blitzed" (which a six pack usually won't get most people) it becomes economically stupid to buy the good stuff, which was my point.

No. Ew. Gross. Thats like saying bargain basement 1 ply toilet paper is just as good as the stuff that doesnt exfoliate your rear end in a top hat you just have to use more and hey its cheaper. no thanks dood some things are just worth paying for.

Go to a Grocery Outlet Bargain Market and in the bottom of the heap of loose beers you may find a precious case of Steel Reserve, meticulously aged at a steady 80°F for eleven months.

Steelie was our go to in college, lowest dollar per oz of alcohol in a beer at the bottle shop across the street. Eventually you get used to the metallic taste. American Ice was a close second, but we could only get that in cases at the distro.

Yawgmoth posted:I've never even seen Steel Reserve on a shelf anywhere. Maybe I'm just going to the wrong places but generally the cheapest poo poo on display is bud/coors/PBR. And I can in fact compare wildly different ABV beers because that's my point: It might be $2/bottle vs. 75c/can but the bottle is gonna do the "get you drunk" job 3-4x better and taste infinitely better too. But most people only see "hey this is $12 and the other one is $9, let's get the $9 because it's cheaper! " without grasping that there's more at work than simple volume/dollars. I'm interested to hear what beer you're drinking that's 15-20% abv for $2/bottle

And if you drink them on an empty stomach, you'll be in for a really fun time! Right so a $12 6-pack of those has as much alcohol as a $10 12-pack of Coors, so how exactly is it more cost effective?
