Shane Prince is my most pleasant surprise so far this season, which is pretty much all you need to know. Danny Dekeyser has worked hard and has managed to raise his 5v5 CF% above 40%. Well, at least I'm not a Wings fan.

Iodised QQ posted:Marchand - Tavares - Ehlers After quickly looking at how many points these guys have and not really going into fancy stats the early returns are about what I expected good: the top 6 is as good as I hoped it would be, somewhat surprised that Ehlers is tied for 10th in the league in scoring. Marchand has 17 points in 18 games and Kucherov on the second line has 22 points and is second in the league in scoring. Tavares is off to a slow start by his standards but he'll rebound and something tells me that in our make believe league he'd be producing more flanked by Marchand and Ehlers than he is in real life with Cal Clutterbuck and Josh Bailey. Ribiero is producing too. Mark Streit has 11 points and can still perform his role decently well, Tanev and Petry both look to still be reliable players. Jordie Benn hasn't been benched I think which is good? Casey Cizikas has been great and Leo Komarov seems to be performing his role well still so they still look like they'd be able to live up to the fourth line I hoped they would be. bad: putting Clarke Macarthur on my third line with his concussion history was risky. I don't think anyone expected him to be ended by his own teammate in training camp though. That sucks. Anders Lee has been a ghost, there's always hope that being removed from the worst coach in the league and given to someone who could utilize him properly would fix him but my real life team has no plans of doing that. likewise my bottom d pairing hasn't done anything in the NHL this year, Ryan Pulock got hurt instantly upon getting into a game. The Isles signing Dennis Seidenberg and him actually playing well has kept Mayfield out of the lineup with the exception of one game I think Hitchcock has been kinda bad with young guys but his team keeps winning so he is still an ok pick?

Mikhail Sergachev Mark Barberio Carey Price Malcolm Subban Kirk Muller I know I have them all out of position shut up it doesn't matter put them in the right spot in your minds. Injuries are a bitch, Huberdeau, Vanek out for a while Depth is still pretty goddamn nice, even if I'm seeing regression from Ghostbear (to be expected, it's a long term pick) and Bobby Ryan (laffo) Hit gold with my 18 year old d-man pick, he looked good in his cup of coffee. Of course, I have Carey Price, so it automatically makes this a playoff team. I think I have 4 lines who can score, and play responsible enough defence to make up for the fact that I have a defence that playing defence is of questionable ability. All Hail Carey

Pirri has been good. Steen has struggled. Beleskey has been god loving awful. Overall, with everyone healthy, I still think I have an OK group of forwards, but Steen and Beleskey being lovely so far ruins my depth. Werenski is a loving god and makes my defense terrific. Johnson Lindell - Koekkoek Hultstrom (SHL) Stebe Mason Calbin Pickard Darryl Sutter overall I'm actually still happy with it, Nylander was well worth a 4th round pick despite the naysayers Hultstrom didn't pan out like I hoped Chychrun/Point seem like great late round picks plus I got the best coach in hockey to smooth over the rough spots and the core of my team is all under 30 other than Stastny if Evander Kane would pick his poo poo up I'd be pretty happy with my top six, I like the rest of my team other than playing Koekkoek out of position and my 4th line being questionable RIP Grabovski, one headshot too many

Malkin and Hossa have been dominant. Cooter was good before he got hurt. Doan and Calvert are pedestrian. The Ritchie bros are doing pretty well and Sundqvist is tearing up the AHL and could probably play in the NHL already. The d is more or less what I expected. My D is one of the best in the league with the emergence of Cole and Pysyk playing solid minutes for their teams. But my goaltending probably makes or breaks my team; kinda like if the Flames didn't have Elliot/Johnson and had a good goalie, they'd be in the playoffs. So, happy with my team for sure other than the trashfire in net. But I'm happy to see, especially, all of my rookies looking great.

Lineup Creator So this is a neat tool where you can just plug in names and it estimates your teams CF%, CF/60, CA/60, GF%, GF/60, GA/60 and points over the course of a season. I plugged my poo poo team into it and got this: So I drafted a mediocre team that'll squeak into the playoffs, assuming everyone is healthy, which seems incredibly accurate. I substituted Matt Martin and Nikita Soshnikov for Greening and Kerby Rychel. You just have to download that sheet and pop it into excel or google sheets. I quickly plugged Brodeur's Nunnery into it because he had the most impressive looking team to me on this page, substituting parenteau for buchnevich, and welp:

Due to the Isles being dumb and not letting Barzal play, I've replaced him with noted Stupid loving Idiot Brandon Sutter. Definitely a team carried by its defense. Jake Allen didn't have a great year and Bernier was only okay-ish, so I don't think I make the playoffs with this team, unfortunately. What a late round pick on Grabner, though.

So I put all of these teams into Noted poo poo Game NHL17 (single season only unfortunately, couldn't do a BaGM because it wouldn't let me draft for every team) and here are the ratings for everyone's team. There were a handful of guys (mostly prospects) that weren't in the game, so I tried to give the team what I thought was an equivalent player. For example, Nischuskin isn't in the game because he hosed off to the KHL, so I put Semin there instead I'm sim it in a little bit and post the results. That's what I'm sayin, I built the Isles to fill some Barclay seats and get good ratings. Defense is for the birds. I'd be really curious to see how these sims work out, looking forward to them. e: I put them into the lineup creator thing Clarke MacArthur got murdered by a teammate so I put in the forgettable Alan Quine, Erik Condra got hurt so I left that default Toronto dude on my 4th line since I've never heard of him. Much like the guy above who got screwed by the real Isles not playing Barzal, my 3rd d pair of Scott Mayfield (little short on minutes) and Ryan Pulock (kept in AHL despite owning) don't exist. So I left the default Maple Leaf third pair. I wondered how the projection would be effected by swapping Ehlers and Kucherov, but it actually doesn't change much. Ehlers surprised me a lot this year. And the Marchand-Tavares-Kucherov trio have pretty much lived up to any expectations I could've had for them. Fun team actually seems to be surprisingly successful! I expected mediocrity and I got it. I left Mark Fayne out because he died and who cares. I double-slotted Eric "A Depth Forward" Fehr because Bjorkstrand and Vrana didn't play enough minutes to get in and probably would have mildly improved the 3rd line given a chance. However, considering that Hansen, Hornqvist, Little and Schwartz all had injury trouble and Pouliot seems to be irreparably broken, and that my goaltending tandem is Louis Domingue and Ville "Who?" Husso, I think this team might have struggled In Real Life. DeKeyser has transitioned into a boat anchor and Theodore hasn't been great, although he seems to be much better away from Bieksa. Gustav Forsling appears to be a marginal NHLer for now so that's something. Barkov will win a Selke sooner or later* and then I'll be vindicated. * when Bergeron retires Precambrian Video Games fucked around with this message at 17:00 on Mar 31, 2017 |
