Finally gotten around to watching Belladonna Of Sadness (from Shudder, since it was taken off of Prime)

I enjoyed the soundtrack more than anything else. It's like an 70s Italian soundtrack with Japanese singers. The actual story is interesting but the 'animation' is more like an intricate drawing that they pan over. It swings from very crude to very visually impressive the black plague segment was out of this world and worth the runtime

I'm seriously glad more people are checking that movie out, it's dope as gently caress. Honestly, I really like the animation, even in the more crude moments; I almost feel like the movie's visual style wouldn't work as well if it were fully animated.

It feels like it's taken longer to release Season 2 compared to a lot of their other shows, but I take that as a casualty to a bigger budget and maintaining/improving the quality of writing. As far as I know, it's Lesley Arfin's only project now, and she's devoting a lot into it.

Also, Bertie's back, guys. I hope she gets even more attention this season.

I'm going to have to go back and watch Love. Last time I had intentions to do so I think I ended up on the Gaspar Noe movie of the same name which was essentially a two and a half hour artsy porn movie.

The ending to Love was bullshit. I hope they expand on it a bit in season 2 because I did actually enjoy the show. Paul Rust becomes a loving rear end in a top hat near the end and he still gets everything he wanted.

The ending pissed me off as well, but after thinking about it more, I felt the big takeaway is to root for the girl who eventually owns up to her flaws instead of the guy in denial of his. Both dating behaviors do loving suck and it's a realistic depiction of a relationship between two toxic people making lovely decisions and poorly communicating, plus the pain caused by all these misunderstandings.

The show does call him out on it, though. The problem is, Gilly's character is addicted to relationships and sex. Si far, Gus has been the most stable partner she's had, even though he's an aashole that thinks he's a good guy and morally superior.

I think that's directly where the show is going.

Also, Gus didn't get everything he wanted. He ruined his chances at being a writer because of his ego, he's stuck tutoring a brat child star who now owns him since she saved his job, his boss and co-workers now think he's a huge gently caress-up, his friends hate Gilly's character because she's a bitch, and he can't even go back to that magic show place.

I've been watching Unsolved Mysteries. I like the Robert Stack episodes a lot better than the Dennis Farina episodes. It adds to the unrealness knowing that a lot of them were filmed years before I was born, that the middle aged people then are elderly or deas now.

The Farina episodes are a tad overproduced and lose some charm seeing Google maps displayed in each episode. I warmed up to him after I found out he was Wildcat in Justice League Unlimited.

I was thinking about who I'd have host a modern revival of Unsolved Mysteries and I got the perfect host: Kieth David.

Heh, I've been surprised by all of this talk too. I like the cast, but the show just did nothing for me and I turned it off before the first episode ended.

I think I'm about to fall down a korean drama rabbit hole. I've been watching Nightmare High and it's actually pretty fun. The basic premise is that the homeroom teacher of a high school classroom is hospitalized and replaced by a mysterious substitute teacher. Turns out the sub is basically satan and starts making Faustian bargains with the students under the guise of well meaning counselling. One example is a bullied girl who gets the power to determine who is friends (or not friends) with who in the class. It goes about as well as you'd expect from an introverted girl with a major grudge against someone in the class.

It's pretty much a cross between an anime and a soap opera and is about as schlocky as you'd expect from that, but it's pretty fun stuff if you aren't looking for a masterpiece.

Other good stand up with heart that's not necessarily clean is anything with Mike Birbiglia and Bo Burnham's what.

I agree 100%. The set wasn't quite on Tig Notaro's "I have cancer" level, but it was still great and genuinely moving and funny. I like this trend of comics getting more personal and vulnerable on stage. Brings back fond memories of Richard Pryor.

Speaking of which, Richard Pryor: Live in concert came back to Netflix a few months ago.

If you haven't seen it and don't mind spending some money, Bo Burnham is the lead in Zach Stone is Gonna Be Famous. It's on Prime and it's really good. It stinks that it only went for 13 episodes but it wraps up well, highly suggested for all.

I only use Netflix on my phone and more and more it has been giving me notifications for poo poo I don't want or care about. It's really useful for when they say, add a new season to a show I've watched before. But it's also being used like another suggestion method. And now it is giving me a loving trailer. A trailer. And I even watched through it to make the red dot go away but nope still there. I can't get rid of it.

I think the final straw for me was when they earnestly recommended me that latest Kevin James abomination.
