Topknots and man buns are in fashion though. However, none of my friends who wear them would step foot inside a GW store so idk if they made the right move.

Bonus experience doesn't help you when all your dudes get killed.

That shouldn't be happening to anyone though, once you lose 25% out or down you take bottle tests. I am pretty sure you can even voluntarily fail to avoid being forced into a massacre. Yea, there unbalanced matches, but what should happen is the underdog loses and advances faster anyway.

Also the balancing scenarios I mentioned.

Necromunda did have problems and you could definitely get screwed if one of you early matches was brutal and you lost gangers before you had the ability to replace them. But it didn't totally ignore the leader issue, and a modern version of the system should be able to do it better. We'll never get one though.

Supposedly, rumor has it that both necromunda and mordheim are in the works. Whether they will be modern, though, heh..

Then again, I haven't found a modern game that captures the charm so whatever

I sound the underdog systems in those specialist games to be a bit too coarse, but a more precise version might work

I just want it to be skirmish and campaign rules for the existing range because I actually like the models but would much prefer skirmish scale.

If they re-release Necromunda it's going to be the same thing or close enough. No reason to assume they would polish it even if they were capable.

The campaign system was coarse but basically functional, you would think with 20 years we'd be able to get something refined but nope.

Mordheim tried to do the balance-over-time thing by making upgrades to equipment like Armor much more expensive for every bonus without saving throws actually having a huge effect on the math in combat, but mostly it just resulted in people ignoring armor and taking high-toughness warbands like Beastmen instead. They were at least aware of the issues, so there's that.

They're talking about the one up top not the pair behind though.

GW's always had a problem doing good butts, but it wasn't until Sigmar things went totally square. Topknots have declined in quality over the years too.

This is probably it. I have several hipster and just plain more stylish and attractive friends and it might be coloring my perception of the style. However, aside from maybe male magazine models, I've never seen a neckbeard wear it so I don't think there's an imminent danger of it coming to your typical LGS.

I did look at GWs top knots and yeah they've gone downhill. The straight up Goro-style :krad: topknot no longer exists.

I like Slambo, he retains the basic character of the old model and is just cleaned up. Exactly what I want from a redone model.

You say that, but the last several posts have involved genuine discussion and criticism. It's not the unbridled fan boy felatio of anything GW does that the fanatics prefer to see, but at least it wasn't the usual trolling.

For real though your repeated experiences with AoS are more damning than any of the death thread's hot takes and more convincing than a dozen half-hearted attempts at tactics and force-building posts. It's a brutal honesty that's hard to sweep under the rug.

And I don't know how much my opinion's worth but your posts were also genuinely interesting just as a fair critique.

The dumb thing is that the game takes a lot of effort to look past the glaring flaws and find the fun. The core of a game is there, of course, but it's surrounded by so much cruft it's daunting. Not daunting due to complexity like Infinity, but it's like dinner with the in-laws you hate. You want to sit down to a nice meal but you know you are going to have to deal with so much poo poo that you just want it over.

The funny thing is we actually had some tactics this time around. Simple stuff but unit shaping and placement to prevent movement and force matchups started to make sense. I'm starting to see how the target priority should go in a match, stuff like that.

I'm not saying it's growing on me but to use the analogy from before, the uncle in law wasn't overtly racist at this dinner for a change.

It's like a stripped down more difficult/run and gun focused version of Descent. Descent was based on the original Doom game and I believe this current one is a redesign of the old game.
