This is weirdly goddamn true. People'll brush off the most insane poo poo because "Yeah, they're an animator, of course they draw their characters loving. Of course they draw other characters loving. They all draw hardcore porn of cartoons."
And I just give a spaced-out smile. :downs:

Lion King 2! Last watched it in like 2006-7.

  • Oof, dialogue is not the best. Like not just the writing, but also the editing of the timing, if that makes sense?

  • Timon and Pumbaa are the best gay uncles :3:

  • Is young Kovu Bart Simpson?

  • Simba and co. being a little pred-judiced here.

  • Yessssss Cam Clarke, sing to me! :swoon:

  • Oh, this shot was my old SA avatar, years ago:

  • The character animation is really good for a DTV sequel.

  • Kira is knocking it out of the park with her villain song :h: An abandoned termite mound as the lair is a really creative setpiece!

  • I forgot how abrupt the cub-to-adult transition is in this movie. There's not even a montage!

  • Simba makes a great daddy... no, wait, what I mean is, his tribulations in being a good father in this movie is a great evolution of his character

  • Oh shiiiiiit I forgot how much Hans Zimmer pulling out his "adventure music!" schtick in this film annoys me. It's the exact same motif as in Pirates of the Caribbean, Gladiator, and tons of other films.

  • gently caress off fake Zazu, you're not Rowan Atkinson

More later, dinner first :kiddo:

When I was a wee youngin' I had a huge crush on Anastasia even though I had never seen the movie. I kept a cutout of a splash page that had a profile portrait of her from a newspaper because I thought the character was so pretty. Too young to do the nasty bits, just thought she looked super pretty.

Anyway, put Cats Don't Dance on the list.
You also need to put The Rabbi's Cat and Ernest & Celestine on your list. They're so good. It's criminal how overlooked they are.
Have you seen Trolls? Give it a watch, it's quite unique looking, and fun to boot.
You should throw Rango and Monster House on that list, both of them - well, Rango is fantastic and MH is surprisingly fun - are good.
I also don't know why you don't have All Dogs Go To Heaven or The Road To Eldorado on your list.

I've seen Cats Don't Dance (but they did, wtf movie title???), Rango (although I honestly should rewatch this every year, it's fantastic), Monster House (needs a rewatch soon because I only recently found out Dan Harmon wrote it), and The Road to El Dorado (watched it last year! don't you follow my every post itt?)

All Dogs was on my longer list but I culled it down before posting it just now. I'll get around to it eventually. Trolls, meh. Ernest & Celestine and the Rabbi's Cat I'll definitely give a go :3:

TLK2 continued ok

  • Upendi is the one genuinely poo poo song in this film. It's like a really bad knockoff of, I dunno, Kiss The Girl mixed with Under The Sea.

  • Nuka's death is a really good emotional moment! Wow

  • Yessss, Not One Of Us, I love this sequence and song. Super emotional, you guys :qq: ... Although I'm now noticing some reused animation within about a minute of itself (the same camera pull-out from Simba happens twice)

  • Kiara telling Simba he'll never be Mufasa... didn't Nala say the same thing to Scar in the first movie? Whoa :aaa:

  • So uh... who built that dam?

  • Finished! I still like it a lot. Flawed, but mainly a worthy continuation of the characters, and the animation is seriously good quality.

  • (So there's a sequel where Kovu now kills Simba and all of his other cubs, right?)

Seriously, he really steals the show. The lil song he sings in the middle part of the movie still surprises me for how brutal it is for a Disney movie.

Jake the kangaroo rat is adorable as well. Plus the Nun Mice always crack me up. The sending of the message sequence is great.

It's not a great Disney flick, but I think it has some good bits.

I don't think I'll ever be able to watch this one. I... uh, have issues watching Earth getting blown up for some reason. I tend to wind up overanalyzing everything we lose when that happens and kind of lock up.

It pisses me off, too, because I think it was the old TV show for Hitchhiker's Guide that first triggered this, and by all accounts Hitchhiker's Guide is a series that would otherwise be very much my thing.

Not sure if the thread covered this yet, but Sing's getting a loving sequel.

Yesterday I was talking to two of the mothers in my office about movies they went to with their kids over the summer. Apparently Sing was the most beloved, and both their kids can't stop singing "Oh my god. Look at her butt." I asked if they also saw Moana, and I got blank looks.
