I think I've finally accepted the fact that the last season and a half of DS9 is better than anything that TNG ever was save a few episodes. However, I do think that the last episode of TNG is the best episode of Star Trek ever made. Given what Patrick Stewart wanted Picard to do in the TNG movies I wonder how much he would have loved to play a Sisko-equivalent in DS9 - punching super-soldiers, gassing planets, blowing up all the ships. Frakes directed at least a few episodes of DS9, not to mention Defiant, so I wonder if they'll interview him too about his brief time on DS9.

Occasionally they do well, but some of their scenes are absolute trash, and Garibaldi and Delenn have stinkers as well. If they improved the acting of the leads and managed to not go so much to the Lord of the Rings references it could certainly be improved. This does not mean that they could ever replicate Katsulas and Jurasik's ability to ham it up. Mumy was also great.

When they were installing the big gently caress-off phaser and third nacelle on the D they had to take some poo poo out which they then installed in the Pasteur because a medical ship doesn't need a state-of-the-art deflector and they were having some materiel shortages what with the Klingon war and all. The reason they don't see the anomaly the first time is that the Pasteurs sensors were malfunctioning, but no one realised because a medical ship doesn't usually have to do a lot of fancy sensor-ing beyond "are we where we're supposed to be?", and they were good enough for that. Please send my No-Prize at your earliest convenience.

But I find all the characters (and drat there are so many) boring and the show overall just lacks dramatic sizzle. it doesn't have the zany frantic feel of Farscape, or the heroic monologues of shows like BSG or B5.

I kind of wish he had helmed the `09 reboots instead of Abraham's, but I have no clue is he is even capable of doing anything remotely serious. Then again, with all of the shoe-horned nostalgia references that the new movies had, I am not sure it would have made any difference.
