Have we seen any new Adept powers? I was always disappointing on how much of a crutch I used the pistol as as an adept, I would love to be able to just beat the game using only biotics and shields... I'm hoping we'll have better low level options here.

A couple of new-ish powers. Annihilation Field from ME3 MP is in as a core biotic power now, and Lance is a tweaked version of Flare.

Backlash might be new, might be ME3 MP's Lash, not sure.

The other biotic skills:

Pull
Throw
Charge
Nova
Shockwave
Singularity
Barrier (passive)
Offensive Biotics (passive)
Containment (passive)

I believe backlash is the shield that reflects incoming projectiles.

Honestly the best thing for adepts in this game might be the lack of a gcd.

Also the Adept passive (besides biotic dodging) appears to be chain explosions.
"Biotic echoes" - probably smaller ones, but still pretty sweet sounding.

I think the emotional buildup and interaction between the characters is really interesting and I'm not sure how to understand the rating of a game when 50% Of the respondents are basement trolls who have literally never had sex in real life, making up fan fiction.

I just now finished ME2 for the third time. It was weirdly a bit fast and not as cool as when it came out, but I had already beat it twice in a row, as a female paragon, and then male Renagade. and when I played the second time, all the extras had come out so it had some more game-play. I just beat it today and saved 100% of people again, and I was only missing two upgraded (I think shotgun and not sure) but I honestly wasn't sure where I would get another 70k

Inquisition is seriously, stupidly huge so either they're pulling some kind of clever semantics where "zone" equals "whole planet including 5 story missions and 3 towns" or the amount of pointless emptiness will be kind of insane.

Inquisition's mount was barely quicker than running so if the Mako is actually as fast as a vehicle should be they could have larger zones.

I'm still not convinced it's necessary though.

In my opinion you need less density than inquisition had if you want to justify a vehicle like the nomad. If you're constantly stopping to interact with stuff having a vehicle just gets in the way. So larger areas with less content density but roughly equal/larger amount of net content sounds about right. Especially if they make good on the content being higher quality than inquisition.

This is the piece that comment is from -

quote:

A fact repeated by Bioware repeatedly is that the smallest Andromeda zone is larger than all of Dragon Age Inquisition. This is insane, obviously, but there’s an economy of scale involved: the nomad moves a lot faster than a horse, and so the game is larger to make up for it. It does offer a great sense of discovery all the same, with impressive vistas showcasing just how good EA and DICE’s Frostbite engine is, as if we needed more proof after Battlefield 1.

I mean...y'all remember ME1, right? The planet environments were massive. We're talking thirty or so environments that were all easily the scale of DA:I Hissing Wastes.

With the caveat that, yes, most of the zones were just environments without a lot of content. If ME:A balances out the ratio of playable planets to actual planetary content, I've no problems believing that even the smallest planets are going to be colossal exploration zones.

I hope that the Fiend enemy has something a little more threatening in its arsenal since in that gameplay trailer it kinda just slowly walked towards the player and got helplessly beat up until it died. The only reason it landed a hit at all was because the person playing forgot about it while fighting other enemies.

It was 100% on narrative difficulty or similar. You can see it hit him and deal gently caress-all for damage.
According to the previously-reliable neogaf leaker it's very different in the actual game- Apparently mob behavior actually changes based on difficulty now.

Yep. To me, ME1's planets work retroactively - no other game in the series has its sense of physical scale and environment diversity. Even the skyboxes are interesting. It's not a fun experience actually playing thru most of the planets, but they do contribute to the feeling of size and variety in the galaxy. Most of the sidequests and interiors don't, not to mention the structure of the geography.

Low-stress/exploratory breaks with visual treats in between combat segments can work really well, like Uncharted does with pacing. We've come a long way with tech since ME1's terrain generator. Much of London in AC: Syndicate was made with an algorithm that pulled pre-fab assets. It looks pretty good. I haven't seen enough to get optimistic about ME:A's planets, but the idea works on a high concept level.

CPU's below the minimum (when did they become the bottleneck again?) and GPU and RAM just make the mark. I'd rather not have to play at 30fps on Low.

I am looking at the difference in the numbers for the recommended CPU and my CPU which came out in 2012 and they are almost identical and I have never ever been CPU bottlenecked while playing games

GPU and RAM are the most important things for playing video games

Or just get it for console which is my plan

Unless you play strategy games and building sims, where more CPU is usually far more important (esp. when it supports decent multicore scaling). It's rather easy to bring a modern CPU to its limits with a modded Cities Skylines. Or a late game big map Civ game.

I find it funny some people are thinking it's "insane" for ME:A to have zones larger than all of DA:I.

Those people never played 2004's Far Cry 1. If anything games have been doing nothing but shrinking this past decade so it's good to see some reversal of the trend.

DA:I had decent size zones but a lack of interesting content, so people are naturally wary of even bigger zones.

That's...almost a special case, but yes, if you're running an i5 2x-- or something then that outlier would result in making things take a scoonch longer or some chugging if you're runnign a city the size of texas, but for a game like ME3 or Doom or Deus Ex MD or Witcher 3 or Modern Warfare it's pretty much a GPU issue. MEA will fall on the side of needing a better GPU than it will for needing a better CPU.But this is strictly a conversation about MEA. IF the dude wanted info about Endless LEgend or City Skylines then that would be a different answer for a different thread.

Doctor Spaceman posted:

I'm one of those people that really did not like the ending of ME3, but I cannot wait to play MEA.

It looks like a ton of goddamn fun. Do we have any information on what race/class combos will be available in multiplayer? I haven't found any yet.

I'm not sure about the story of MEA's single player, but the fact that I can biotic charge, drop a turret, and then smash everything with my hammer has me pretty stoked no matter what.

I'm a diehard vanguard player- my challenge run in ME3 was to fight exclusively with biotic charge and shotguns on hard unless dealing with an instant kill fucker or turrets.

In multiplayer, Krogan Vanguard and Krogan Warlord were my go tos. I'd love to make a sort of fusion of the two for single player.
