I'm not sure how backers are keeping this particular dreamship floating actually. 2.5 was supposed to have improvements in it. Except they released 2.5 and pushed the improvements to 2.5.x Except they just halved the ship speed and called 2.5.x, 2.6 without the improvements that were supposed to be in 2.5. Now they have released 2.6.1, and have pushed the improvements that were originally supposed to be 2.5 into 2.6.2 The backers shouldn't be slapfighting over the "schedule" that gives them a release date on 2.6.2, it should be that the stupid assholes have paid $20,000,000 to wait six months for what was supposed to be in 2.5, except they are so close to the situation they apparently can't realize the PU is a static moneygrab and CIG is burning whole stacks of cash doing something else (motion capture)

Kinda got lost in the chaff of anger but the 2.6.2 schedule got axed for today.quote:Basically production has to cull all the relevant data, go through IC reports, see what worked, what didn't, what still needs fixing, make priorities, then examine progress on intended features, put that all into some production calculus that's way over my head, and then spit out a schedule. Some patches take longer than others, so I don't know when the first version of the 2.6.2 schedule will be ready, but I don't think it's gonna be tonight. Translation: No one has any loving clue what we are going to be doing as soon as a week from now cuz its all FUBAR. And gently caress you if we're going to tell you its not coming out during the first few hours of a ship sale. TrustmeImLegit fucked around with this message at 06:00 on Feb 25, 2017 |

@silentruin; Cool, update the blog commando. Do the people who write stuff like that all drink tainted water? It's like they just feel the need to write down every single little thought that goes through their head in whatever random fashion that they fancy, it's like a live journal of stupid.

I was just commenting on this to my wife. How embarrassing is it for Chris that this direct competitor was green lighted like 9 months ago and already has a mechanically fleshed out alpha with full newtonian physics, FPS point of view, and multiplayer? Not to mention functioning ship systems. 9 months is less than the time between incremental patch updates for Star Citizen. And on like 1% of their budget, as well. I mean, forget Elite- this kind of thing coming out of indie studios reveals the complete balls-up he's made of Star Citizen. Like if he'd just thrown everything out and given a team like this a couple million and done nothing else, back around Gamescom-time last year, he could now have a playable game prototype and Citizens would be vomiting money at him again. But that would require abandoning his vision quest and possibly admitting that he's not very good with a budget, or game design, or management.

Because if CIG were doing something like that the sad, delusional idiots that keep giving them money would obviously have stopped a long time ago.

So what does that make me then? I only started following this whole trainwreck because the griefing thread linked to it and said Star Citizen was a really loving funny mess. I have never spent any money on Star Citizen and ultimately I'm going to laugh my rear end off if it collapses or if it comes out and goons grief the everloving poo poo out of it. I'd go on reddit and tell them this but, you know, don't touch the poop. I guess it's easier to see this in black and white terms of leavers vs loyal believers but the truth is a lot less straightforward.

One of the dumbest things about that ship is that, according to their brochure, that ugly piece of poo poo has 2 size-4 guns in the front, the same type the medium ships like the Constellation have. But it also has the equivalent of a size-7 (capital-sized) gun on the top, just for kicks, plus some more guns somewhere else yet only your regular fighter-sized power plant. So now they are not even pretending that there will be any order or logic to their subsystems and weapons or whatever. Expect a space motorbike that is just a giant railgun with a commando on top soon.

I think they've walked back the armament of every combat ship after it came off its initial sale. They need it to look strong on paper so people will shell out, then they nerf it in time for the next concept sale.

https://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/comments/5vtmsz/current_playability/de4rhd9/ It was year five of the Stimperial Empire Special Citizen's Calendar. Roberts sat in his study smoking a Cuban cigar and scratching his ballsack. The walls of the room were comprised entirely of authentic WW2 fighter plane wings, at a cost of just under seven hundred thousand dollars. He loaded Sim Celeb Porno 6 onto his Playstation 5 prototype, and equipped his Oculus Rift as he prepared to fap. Sandra, his secretwife, had been denying him sex since the fundraising numbers failed to meet burn rate goals for the past three months in a row. A terrified Ben Lesnick had just finished reading the Chairman the backlogged backer feedback consensus report. He was covered in sweat and there was a dribble of urine seeping through his pantleg on the left side, just below the crotch. Chris grumbled to himself for a few moments, like a resentful child being told to do his chores under threat of allowance denial. Ben cleared his throat. "Uhh...They're.. they're saying the PU isn't fun, Mr. Roberts" Finally, Chris spoke. "What do you mean it's not fun? This is bullshit, it's a goddamn sandbox! Chris ripped the Oculus Rift from his face and threw it to the floor. "Let them make their own drat fun!", he snapped bitterly as he resumed counting his one hundred and fifty million dollars. quote:The recent announcement of the discovery of the Trappist 1 system is exciting. The star, an M8 dwarf red star is right at the bottom end of the M class stars, so faint it is only just visible in the most powerful telescopes, and doesn’t feature in most star catalogues for this reason. Luckily, though, the system is almost exactly ‘edge on’ from our viewpoint – which means it is possible to ‘see’ the planets as they occlude the tiny star, and an incredible seven terrestrial planets have been spotted around the star by this technique, three of them in the ‘habitable zone’. So DB's engine partly (mostly) predicted Trappist 1. What did Croberts engine do?
