Nothing about #centredoxx from Tingle on Late Night Live last night but plenty on Onion muncher and some vitriol towards ex-onion wrangler Credlin. Why, you might get the impression that Tony is a wrecker like that narrative we never heard. Little sympathy about #penaltyrates either, Malcolm is a disappointment.

Abortion law reform just fell over in Queensland. LNP basically lied about a conscience vote, with the Leader indicating that every MP will vote No despite several previously indicating that they would vote Yes. Rather than risk it failing on the floor, ALP requested Rob Pyne withdraw the Bills, and the AG has referred them to the Queensland Law Reform Commission. On the plus side, QLRC's Report will nullify the LNP line that the Bills are bad law and will lead to litigation, but it does mean that there is literally no chance of a vote before the next election. It looks like the same process may happen to the Human Rights Act proposal.

Lid posted:Labor’s Clare O’Neil has defended Bill Shorten’s position on penalty rates, claiming he had only said he would stand by the decision of the Fair Work Commission on penalty rates because it was assumed the commission would not recommend cutting them. It's basically the best argument he's got. Otherwise he capitulates on penalty rates and proves himself to be even more spineless than trumble. Lets see if he gets on the front foot with something like "I was happy to let the independent commission decide because you can't expect an attack on the least well off in our community damaging some of the poorest Australians. This result is so out of step with the values and principles of the Labor party and Australians as a whole that we must act." or if he'll let it slide away.

He needs to go balls to the wall. "I put this to the commission and this government failed to defend you, it let the corporations take over the submissions, it let the commissioner get brow beaten by business and I'm not going to let that stand. Tax cuts for business, no wage growth, the LNP are bad. Bad and sad, three words. I'll help the poor people, kiss the babies, gently caress the lonely housewives. I'll fix it all."

Yeah but it can be flipped to a viable attack. "If Shorten doesnt listen to either an independent adjudicator or himself how can we be safe with him in charge? He's either spineless, a liar, or both." Could be flipped further that the Libs get a freebie on ignoring independent advice and an attack on them will be deflected with "oh listening to independent advice you agree with is ok but if it doesnt its knives out, Mr Shorten" Its lose-lose.

That port link is such a bad move, they literally don't have a business case for it and it must be donations from developers that are driving it since it doesn't actually fix any problems with entry to the port. THIS WILL BE GREAT FOR THE NEW PORT they scream but maybe you should loving build the new port first then we can streamline the road transport there. LNP is going to win here anyway with a PHON coalition and privatise our power and build their useless road so RIP us.
