When you think about it, AOS is a very elegant answer to this whol dice-rolling problem, because if you can end the game immediately with controlled dice/stacked abilities, then you don't need to worry about how to roll dice or guarantee their randomness at all!

Captain Rufus posted:At mine you don't. They throw them out or something. However some casinos sell souvenir dice that are casino quality but not ones you would see at the table. A friend of mine who was in surveillance did some event in Vegas and brought us back some sets. I use them for Warmachine since you don't need lots of dice in it and they are large and visible unlike many shitass dice sets GW and PP have created which suck a fat dick for readability. Dice are so cheap and easy to get ahold of that I just can't justify a roller app unless you forgot them or something. It's more of a pain in the rear end than throwing plastic 9 times out of 10.

It's more likely that your decades-old pile of dice scrounged from various game boxes or with huge logos on one side are far from masterfully crafted for complete random results.

I mean it would be pretty trivial to make a cheating dice app that looked like a real one so that's not a 100% unreasonable suspicion (assuming you're in a context where people might cheat if they could get away with it) even letting them use your app would be fairly easy to get around, just put in a subtle switch that changes how biased it is

According to Andy Chambers, using actual dice may be the worst solution. He had some people do actual rolls of different types of dice, and the results were not pretty :-( https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1671901446441700&id=1437016179930229 Sorry for the FB link, couldn't find it anywhere else.

In my personal experience, engineering students were unrepentant alcoholics, drinking to survive, who'd tell you anything you wanted in exchange for a beer when the Uni Bar opened at midday Friday, and would make some poo poo up in writing to go with it if you put on a house party and a couple slabs on Saturday

Two of my drinking buddies are a pair of Filipino brothers who live nearby. One of them works with my wife so when Duterte comes up I can't really lay into them as harshly as I would like, but literally every time we have beers together how much they love Duterte becomes the focus of the conversation for about fifteen minutes. It's wretched. They make some good points about how the actual things Duterte says are often misrepresented in the media since when he's not speaking English he's regularly misquoted or actually taken out of context and when he is speaking English it's not his first language and his flamboyant exaggerations are treated more literally than they should be. That aside, he's still a monster whose solution to the crushing poverty faced in some of these regions is to round up and murder civilians and that never seems to click for the two brothers. Drug dealers are bad after all. Why wouldn't you kill them? And drug users are just as bad. As long as they exist more drug dealers will show up! Come to think of it, their unwavering support for something objectively terrible isn't all that different than GW fans so maybe it is an appropriate shirt.

Actually cybernetic limbs exist. And they've gotten them to work well enough that you have a sense of touch with them (although I don't think those are easy to get just yet). Also we have cyberwarfare (Stuxnet, Flame), anarchic hackers, secret communication platforms, and so on. Oh, and technicolor hair and mohawks are in now. I may have green hair at the moment myself. For the moment, though, powered prosthetics are still in their infancy. They're good enough to restore some normal functionality to people who've had a medical issue who would otherwise be crippled, but they're not up to the level where they'd be an upgrade.
