I prefer the version with Accuracy Corrector and Autoblaster Turret (a real mean combo) Superdash is Dash Rendar, Outrider Title, Heavy Laser Cannon, Kanan Jarrus crew (or Kyle Katarn crew), Push the Limit, and Engine Upgrade.

Excellent, thank you! *E* Gonna post this here so I can retrieve it later for experimentation. I threw in Expertise on the YT for giggles. Hera Syndulla (40) Accuracy Corrector (3) Autoblaster Turret (2) Dash Rendar (36) Expertise (4) Heavy Laser Cannon (7) Kanan Jarrus (3) Outrider (5) Total: 100 View in Yet Another Squad Builder IronSaber fucked around with this message at 22:28 on Feb 28, 2017 |

Yeah, if the points are there, definitely do Accuracy Correcter and Autoblaster Turret. That makes a Range 1 no-fly zone around the Ghost.

IronSaber posted:Fair enough. What if... I swapped out Kanan for Lando on the YT, and had a Kanan Ghost with Hera and Nien Nunb? If you're building it for fun, go for it. There are no rules! If you're wanting to take this to tournaments, reconsider. Thing about the VCX-100 is that the named, unique pilots are really only worth their points if you're pairing them with an attack shuttle and the Ghost/Phantom titles. The generic Lothal Rebel (with Hera crew added) is the best large ship blocker that Rebels have (I'd tie it with a Jumpmaster 5000 for the best blocker in the game). You can pretty much go anywhere with it. There was a build recently that was pretty popular with 2 Lothal Rebels + Autoblaster Turret + Accuracy Corrector plus a Y Wing with Autoblaster Turret. It's successful because there's tons of health to chew through, and the Range 1 band on a big ship like that is pretty big. It's sort of fallen out of favor because TLTs are back and can eat that alive from a safe distance, and there are fewer aces out there reliant on green dice. Kanan with either Twin Laser Turret or Ion Cannon Turret and the ghost/phantom title is a kick in the pants. The build will typically have Fire Control Systems and some crew to generate a lot of focus tokens (either Rey or Recon Specialist). He's paired with Biggs, and the idea there is to keep Biggs alive as long as possible (using Kanan's ability to reduce incoming red dice) while the Ghost dumps out big damage with 2 attacks from the ship each round. Brobots clobber this list, because they can pretty reliably kill Biggs in 1 or 2 rounds of shooting and then trade punches vs. the zero agility Ghost.

Paratanni is stuck at 100, so getting a bid can be worth it for some lists. World's Schedule and limited Prize info is up: https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/op/world-championships-may/tournament-details/ I'm going to try for Day 1A so I can do all the side events. I was going to do Destiny too but given their new prize system, it seems like it's fine to stick with a single game. Anyone planning on going? Are they not doing reduced prices for more than 1 event this year? So your 2nd event is also $70?

Yeah it specifically calls out that each World Championship you participate in will cost $70. I was going to do X-Wing and Destiny just for the Destiny deckbox, but I'll just do X-wing side events and save the $70. Though you can do any and all side events for free at least.

So, I'm heading to the Endor System Open this weekend. I'm guessing there will be a crap-ton of Paratanni around, and probably more than a few Commonwealth Defender lists as well. I originally just wanted to bring Paratanni myself, since I've been playing it/practicing against it for the last month or so. Seeing how prevalent the list has become I've been trying to figure out a way to counter it while also harnessing some of what makes the list work. I've used this list to limited success: Asajj Ventress — Lancer-class Pursuit Craft 37 Attanni Mindlink 1 Latts Razzi 2 Ship Total: 40 Fenn Rau — Protectorate Starfighter 28 Attanni Mindlink 1 Autothrusters 2 Concord Dawn Protector 1 Ship Total: 32 Palob Godalhi — HWK-290 20 Attanni Mindlink 1 Dorsal Turret 3 4-LOM 1 Cloaking Device 2 Ship Total: 27 Total:99 I realize that dropping Manaroo seems crazy on paper, but hear me out! With the 1 point initiative bid I can guarantee I have initiative, and if I can fly Palob right it means I get to snatch my opponent's focus token before he gets a chance to pass it off of Manaroo, which seems pretty good. Palob has the added bonus of being great against Defenders too, since he can snag their evade token. The one major problem that usually comes up is that if the cloaking device breaks at an inopportune time, it usually signals my inevitable defeat. Otherwise it seems to do alright, so long as I make good calls on my maneuvers. Am I crazy for trying to mess with an extremely proven formula? Or worse, for pinning my hopes and dreams onto a Hawk with a cloaking device? I've also tried an alternate build that drops 4-LOM and Dorsal Turret in favor of Autoblaster Turret and Stygium, which tends to do better against lists like Thug Life, but I'm having a hard time settling on one vs the other.
|
# ? Mar 2, 2017 00:12 |
Nah that's solid. There was a version with Fenn, Asajj, and teroch that did well at yavin with a similar concept. Had to drop the title on both protectorates to fit it tho. Edit although I'd probably go for a TLT if there is any way to find the points.

I played FennZuckMan vs a mindlink list with TLT Palob and a bunch of mangler Sycks. His Palob, with initiative, pretty much neutered Manaroo's usefulness. He was real good about taking target locks on Manaroo also, so not only did I rarely have a focus token on Manaroo to pass, but I didn't want to take a target lock and pass it along with the red locks to a higher value target. It essentially put Manaroo on a countdown, and made me play more aggressively than I wanted to with my other pieces.

The figure on the left can be either Kylo or Vader. The placement of the vents actually make it look more like Kylo (or a tie fighter pilot), which got me thinking that this figure on the right can be a straight up Finn with brown jacket/black pants. Maybe a blue glow/outline like the movie posters with him holding the lightsaber. Would that be better than a white jacket/black pants stormtrooper with imperial insignia? Here's a miniswarm I built out of what I have. Which is to say, both core sets, Imp Aces, and one TInt, TF and TF/fo. The plan is to fly in a formation, a row of three and a row of two, the lower ps in front, and just scream into range one and shoot like mad. I thought of Carnor instead of Soontir, but being in the back, I don't feel like he'll get into range of the baddies enough. Thought? Swarm With Cheese (100) Soontir Fel (30) - TIE Interceptor Push The Limit (3) "Howlrunner" (18) - TIE Fighter "Omega Ace" (20) - TIE/FO Fighter Mauler Mithel (17) - TIE Fighter Winged Gundark (15) - TIE Fighter

Soontir is not at home in a swarm. He is an arc dodger, so he's going to want some breathing room. That being said, you're missing Autothrusters without which he will die like a dog to anything with a turret. I honestly think you'd be better with two more TIEs instead. You should have the ships, as I count 6 TIE models there.

As it is right now, I'd swap Soontir for Omega Leader and give Push the Limit to Omega Ace. PtL and OA's pilot ability make for some brutal synergy, and everything you need for OL to be most effective came in the box with him (Juke and Comm Relay). Mauler and Winged Gundark become your bait, while OL (backed up by Howlrunner) and OA are the closers. Something like this, which is fairly close to what you already had: quote:Swarm With Cheese (99)

I'd love to run the Sinister 6 list of TIE Fighters, but having to remember 6 different pilot abilities and their timing windows would be a massive pain. Howlrunner, Mauler Mithel, Backstabber, Dark Curse, Winged Gundark, and Night Beast all at once comes to 97 points...
