This is what annoys me. It's easy for dems to introduce cool legislation like drug reimport now when they know it'll be vetoed anyway, why didnt they do it back when they had the supermajority in 09?

They suck because they're a modern capitalistic corporation that strips power from the people en-masse and wants to turn it into short-term profit for themselves.

Also, modern industrial agriculture is one of the biggest contributor to climate change, and Monsanto loves industrial agriculture.

People who don't like starving also like it.

Yes, they are a corporation. If that is all you have that's fine. I admit they are as evil as any generic corporation.

ahh

i was confusing the two (it's early and i have a head cold)

then yeah, software shouldn't be patented since it's under copyright, or if it's not under copyright then it should be and taken off patents

Since the state and local apparatuses were more or less in a state of torpor for the last 8 years the guys in charge simply cannot deal with people suddenly making their actions have consequences, see the congressional democrats suddenly growing a spine

You know what a real winner at the polls would be? Eminent domaining all the land that agribusiness currently owns and parceling it out to the residents of the state, employing people to farm it and giving them proper pay and benefits, and using the profits gained to fund social services instead of lining the pockets of executives.

I'm surprised there still isn't some sort of Green City somewhere in the world, considering how nice they look.

Veg and aquaculture farm roofs, inwards-leaning buildings to increase shade and increase roof space, more below-ground construction, all that fun stuff.

or just make the roofs of old manufacturing plants glass while using the existing walls, put in a poo poo load of water tanks for fish farming with water vegetation on top so it's almost a completely self contained fish farm system so with minimal heating during winter it can operate year round

who gives a poo poo how they look when it will help revitalize mid west manufacturing towns while at the same time being great for the environment

There's a really cool place in Lexington that did exactly this

an old commercial bakery space was empty for years until a local brewery (West 6th Brewing) bought it

it was too big for the bewery/cannery/bottling plant so West 6th rented the extra space out to a hydroponic/tilapia farm group (FoodChain) working with grants from UK

they got a good local chef to front the fish/hydro farm and serve the fresh fish and greens (Smithtown Seafood) and the restaurant and brewery share the guest space that has huge communal tables

It's a pretty dope place to visit since you can see the whole thing, drink some good beer and have fish and fries or whatever

The group existed beforehand but always acted as the junior partner to the third-way Dems because they either didn't realize that their interests weren't in the same place or that recognized they were outnumbered and it was the lesser of two evils. Now that there's a societally-recognized distinction between the two both in economic policy (social democrat/rad-socialist vs. neoliberal) and political organization/ideal (mass politics vs. technocratic elite), the Left and Center are now speaking with separate voices in culture and politics. The people who identify with the Old Guard are freaking out because suddenly they're surrounded by an enemy within the ranks who used to be a loyal nothing but suddenly mutated into a different ideology overnight.

I liked this so much that I shared it on my Facebook last night to help keep encouraging my progressive friends to keep up the energy.

Woke up to my mother-in-law having posted this:

"Why in the world would anybody that lives in a free country want to go to socialism. That is not being free having the government take what you worked hard for and give it to someone else. The government run places like veterans Hospitals or Military Hospitals treat people terrible. I know I have family that liked to have died in one of those places. People in other countries that have social health care come to are country for health care because of the wait to have test run. But maybe you need someone to tell you what to do because you don't know how to get out and work and take care of yourself because that is what socialism is"

Note: my mother-in-law lives in rural Alabama and thinks Trump is great and that I hate Christians.
