This is what annoys me. It's easy for dems to introduce cool legislation like drug reimport now when they know it'll be vetoed anyway, why didnt they do it back when they had the supermajority in 09?

The group existed beforehand but always acted as the junior partner to the third-way Dems because they either didn't realize that their interests weren't in the same place or that recognized they were outnumbered and it was the lesser of two evils. Now that there's a societally-recognized distinction between the two both in economic policy (social democrat/rad-socialist vs. neoliberal) and political organization/ideal (mass politics vs. technocratic elite), the Left and Center are now speaking with separate voices in culture and politics. The people who identify with the Old Guard are freaking out because suddenly they're surrounded by an enemy within the ranks who used to be a loyal nothing but suddenly mutated into a different ideology overnight. I liked this so much that I shared it on my Facebook last night to help keep encouraging my progressive friends to keep up the energy. Woke up to my mother-in-law having posted this: "Why in the world would anybody that lives in a free country want to go to socialism. That is not being free having the government take what you worked hard for and give it to someone else. The government run places like veterans Hospitals or Military Hospitals treat people terrible. I know I have family that liked to have died in one of those places. People in other countries that have social health care come to are country for health care because of the wait to have test run. But maybe you need someone to tell you what to do because you don't know how to get out and work and take care of yourself because that is what socialism is" Note: my mother-in-law lives in rural Alabama and thinks Trump is great and that I hate Christians.
