Unlike Clancy Brown, I'm not here to be your daddy. I'd say that the rules of the forum say to make posts worth reading, but I just checked the Games Rules thread for the first time in a long time and it's basically just satirical nonsense now, so what do I know?

This is not, nor has it ever been, a Bioware “Safe Space.” We have been making fun of and arguing about Bioware and their problems since the first page, because this is basically the All Things Mass Effect thread. You are entirely entitled to make fun of their dumb poo poo and gently caress ups here. From the whole franchise! Bitch about their dumb comics or goofy animations! That's fun, because a lot of it is very, very silly, and some or a lot is pretty bad! But you can also post the stuff you like about this franchise, too. And if something you're looking forward to happens to be the game in the title text, that's great. Makes all my time digging corn nuggets of news out for you guys feel a little bit more worthwhile.

Let's at least try to make the thread interesting or fun to read. Don't get mad about video games. Stay cool; have fun; make jokes; talk about Mass Effect. I liked BARON CYBER SKULL's shrinking Ryder gag. That was funny!

A very, very, very good post and my sentiments exactly. (I thought the rules thread was funny though :( A new one will be coming back though, so don't worry.)

IMO, Sara looks much better in the latest material released than at first (though it may be just that I am getting used to her appearance). Boy Ryder still gives a bit of a cringe for some reason (maybe the fact that he looks like a coldplay cover band vocalist I dunno).

BUT of course the RPS preview said that the animations are a tad janky in their build, so I look forward for her face going spastic or something when she decides to do a :smug: or something

(or even better a )

The character guide linked in that article was interesting, talked about another Tempest crewmember I'd never heard of before: Suvi Anwar, the Tempest's resident Scottish science officer who openly talks about faith and believing in higher powers. While it doesn't sound like she's a member of any particular Earth religion she's very into science as uncovering the handwork of the divine, which is an interesting mentality for the ship's science officer.

It looks a lot like the nearly 10 year old animations have been reused once again. The "typing in the air over your omni-tool orange glow" in the Nanjiani video was very, very much the old animation.

I don't care much about how well the default face for Sara looks, like Shepard she'll get customized anyway. Can't have such a white bread saving yuumanity. The skin colour slider goes far, far to the brown end of the colour spectrum for me in such games. There are too many pink skin protagonist in games where you can't customize anyway.

Twice the budget if you factor in marketing. Without marketing it was around 40 million dollar. With marketing about 80 million.

It seems apropos to mention that Aaryn Flynn said recently in plea for tax credits/breaks from the Canadian government et al that MEA cost 100 million dollars. I have no idea how much Witcher 3 cost or how far a dollar stretches or doesn't in that part of the world, but my understanding is Canada is pricey.

I genuinely feel like marketing prices might be too high. Maybe a bit too gouging. In general I stuggle to see why games cost as much as they do. I bet there is a lot of fluff everywhere.

EA saved in marketing expenses by having a game they have no confidence in, good hedging strategy.

$80M seems a lot, you'd think a deal with Porntube would be easy to negotiate, cheaper, and more effective.

That's interesting. Dragon Age was to take Dungeons and Dragons, Mass Effect was to take Star Wars, has anything else emerged that can get took?

Game of Thrones and Walking Dead are both popular enough but GoT they've kind of tried to fold into Dragon Age and zombies are a bit done. Did anything ever come of this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-HyfmUkDixE , because a sort of supernatural modern action thing would tick a lot of boxes.
