I've seen the top one before but can't put a name to it

Second is Michael Tracey, who went in too deep with irony during the campaign, and final form is Jeet Heer, the resident irony nerd of the New Republic. He tweets a lot, and is charmingly care given how much he seems to enjoy Chapo humor.

Benny Johnson's av just looks like a boring caricature of an old man.

I don't know much about Michael Tracey but I like the cut of his jib. (e: it looks like he changed his av, he sucks now)

I wouldn't put baseball crank in the same genre as these other guys since it's not based on how actually looks... unless he's literally a baseball.

I really do admire Jeet's courage in using an av that makes him look fat and dopey.

The Chapos have often recommended, and plenty of people have mentioned here, Rick Perlstein's trilogy on the rise of the conservative movement through Goldwater, Nixon and Reagan. If you have to pick one, Nixonland is the one to read, but the one fact that sticks with me after finishing them recently, is from the last, The Invisible Bridge: while governor of Georgia, Jimmy Carter proclaimed a day of recognition for Lt. William Calley as he awaited trial for the war crimes at My Lai.

The older ones, not so much. Once armystrang got two other guys to get in on the podcast the quality skyrocketed. It is real good and accessible now, especially the recent ones.

I'm glad to hear this because I listened to the first few and, while he's a cool guy, I don't think a podcast can be good with only one person unless it's strictly educational. I'll have to start listening again.

There is a recent episode with Chapo Middle Eastern expert Derek Davison about the Iraq/Iran war and the middle east that is very good.
