My friend would troll and win with those lists. They're fine for local 3-4 round tournaments but good luck trying to keep your flying straight in a 7+ round regional+.

You're on the right track of ace + miniswarm. As it is right now, I'd swap Soontir for Omega Leader and give Push the Limit to Omega Ace. PtL and OA's pilot ability make for some brutal synergy, and everything you need for OL to be most effective came in the box with him (Juke and Comm Relay). Mauler and Winged Gundark become your bait, while OL (backed up by Howlrunner) and OA are the closers. Something like this, which is fairly close to what you already had:

Perfect, I'll try this.

Well, my problem is that my preferred list is Soontir/Carnor/Turr. But I haven't bothered actually buying the physical cards for enough Autothrusters, Stealth Devices, and an extra Royal Guard TiE, so it's fine for playing casual, but there's a little local store tourney coming up.

So, I figure, this still lets me practice flying formation, but should be a bit more decisive than the triple int ace list, which is about fancy footwork and slowly chipping away at the enemy.

Ya, consistantly flying in formation and then keeping track of all your TIES after you break formation and chosing their maneuvers is tricky enough without having to remember what they all do and when they do them.

I think my brain would explode after a day of playing a Sinister 6 style TIE Swarm.

Flying swarms is good for the soul. You get style points at least for plopping down a bunch of TIEs and making the Star Wars Game look like a Star Wars Game.
There are a lot of tough matchups for swarms these days, especially since fast ships with turrets are back

Or just put R4-D6 on there like a normal person, which is cheaper and adds durability without using an action.

Oh, and then drop Stealth Device for Integrated Astromech.

With two Agility, doing a focus action gives you access to 4 additional evade sides (2 eyeballs on each dice), vs getting 3 additional evade sides by adding an additional evade dice. R2-F2 has marginal use if you are getting shot by more than 1 enemy, and even then you are wasting points over just doing a focus action.

Admiral Joeslop
Jul 8, 2010

Biggs is guaranteed to die, it's what he does. Give him R4-D6 and Integrated. Stealth Device is bad on any ship with less than three Agility, especially a ship that can't token stack. With Stealth Device and R2-F2, one bad roll sinks your SD and you're back to three Agility with no Focus. With EU and the bot, you're always at three Agility with a Focus, except that one focus won't help against multiple attacks.

Biggs is best with R4-D6 and IA.

Also, you have Kanan AND Cassian to help the Falcon Sloop, which seems like overkill, especially since you're using the crappy original generic and not Resistance Sympathizer.

Not a better alternative, but R5 Astromech, R7 Astromech, or even R2-D2 are all passable. I'd probably lean towards the R7, myself.

My thought with Jan is:
Cassian triggers rage getting 2 stress.
Next round I clear it with inspiring recruit
Kyle gives me 2 focus for clearing 2 stress
Jan can flip one of them to an evade if I need it
