It was like some weird organizational gambit that originally netted us more seats at the national convention, if I understand it correctly. Made more sense back in the day when Colorado membership wasn't in the hundreds.

And yes I know we're causing everything to get mucked up, despite being the pre-existing local we've ballooned in size so administrative details are being ironed out and we're kind of overwhelmed. ![]()

Oh! Yeah, we are trying to help Colo Springs and one other that I am forgetting the name of. Awesome to hear that you guys in Boulder are getting a lot of new members. At our last Denver meeting there was a pretty long talk about what we could do to help you guys grow to counteract the fact that we're inadvertently taking some of your members. It's awake to see the DSA growing so quickly in our areas. Hopefully once we all get a little more organized we can help work together more often!

If you go statewide, the best advice I can give right now is have a plan in place in case membership increases such that more locals become necessary (e.g. to avoid commutes). Keep your registered member lists sorted based on, say, counties, or geographically proximate zip codes, or what have you, and up to date. Make sure some clear parliamentary duties are sorted out even when your membership count is low and that whoever the state contact is is aware they could potentially be dealing with a large influx of emails if something drives new member registrations.

Whoever wrote the quote from the image is a right dick though and if they serve in any way as a dsa rep they should be told to get out. But stupid poo poo is gonna happen, not even the professional politicians stop their own from doing stupid poo poo and the barriers to entry are much stronger there. We need to call out and condemn stupid poo poo, strongly and quickly and succinctly, and then drown it in positive stuff to the extent we are able. Marginalize the idiots rather than giving them a platform (while rightly being cautious of political enemies who would seek to use our criticisms to grant those assholes a platform because it serves their ends to make us look bad by association or who would use that behaviour to spread generalized and vague sweeping condemnations - but that comes AFTER the self policing) GlyphGryph has issued a correction as of 02:45 on Mar 5, 2017 |

Twitter just seems like such a bad means of expression. It's just void-shouting with a high probability of being misunderstood and of understanding others. I don't see why people use it for anything other than sharing events and information.
