All I've seen in the media is the people being arrested for 'assaulting' a police officer. All I saw was someone knocking over a sign for the 'free speech zone' and then the police attacked them. Like hands around the dude's neck attacked. The mainstream media was behind the police line though from what I could tell, recording the Trumper's speeches it seemed like. I watched a live stream of the 'proud boys' in berkeley today and it was really interesting. White guys with 3' long 2" hardwood dowels and 4x6" flags taped to the dowel, 70 year old white guys in leather vests with straight up pieces of 2x4, white guys wearing motorcycle helmets and plywood shields and utililikilts.. When they backed off behind a concrete wall o stay on the high ground, one white guy with a top-knot pulled a knife (and eventually was escorted to his car).

I've seen a few people passing around a video of Lake Oswego's proud boys rally from yesterday, where one woman is surrounded by a bunch of them and just starts waving the bird.. Generally the people sharing this are saying "this is why you cannot reason with liberals" so that is a thing which happened. In the video though, at least half of the people surrounding the woman seem to also be known white supremacists. Mercury reports that the guy giving the heil hitler sign at the women was actually attempting to pray for and lay hands on her to heal her. https://twitter.com/itsmikebivins/status/838132771943919616?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw https://www.flickr.com/photos/bkerensa/sets/72157677526584674 (why the gently caress is there a guy in a coolie hat?) https://medium.com/@bkerensa/lake-oswego-police-let-3-percenters-militia-assault-counter-protestors-96828fb09e88#.l141ywfmy

Have the state issue hunting tags for the Homeless, however they are for a single individual and if you fail to Seriously thought the homeless people in this city don't really scare me, but its annoying riding the bus etc. next to someone who smells like death, or is batshit crazy and tweaking, holding up the bus because they don't want to pay and want to get in a fight with the poor bus driver or some other random fucker which then calls the cops and you are now late to/from work, or they pass out for ~reasons~ and now an ambulance needs to show up and take them to the ER. Homlessness and poverty are bad, the way alot of city resources get misallocated on the issue is bad ( not that resources shouldnt be allovated) however a huge amount of expensive police/fire/hospital resources are tied up dealing with issues that could be handled more effectively. On the flip side the cities plans dont seem like they will be terribly effective.

It's worse than that. I work for Parks and Rec, and we literally had a meeting where they explained that we were part of the city's homelessness strategy. Which is to say parks are the only facilities they get and good luck making that work well for anyone. This poo poo isn't complicated: if you want the homeless out of the way you give them homes.

You need to reconsider the way that you are framing the issue and thinking about it. You're looking at it from the perspective of the cost to you personally and the non-homeless population generally. It's not about human misery from this perspective - it's just somebody making you uncomfortable and creating inconveniences in your life. You've dehumanized the homeless and the logical next step is asking how do we get rid of this blight, be that to mental institutions or poor farms or whatever. What you instead should be considering is what leads to the guy smelling so bad? Why is somebody passing out and holding up the bus? How desperate do you have to be to try to argue for a free fare? The stuff you're complaining about isn't the real problem, it's the immediate result of the real problem. You need to remind yourself and everyone else about that fact because it's not the homeless person making you late, it's the fact that in a nation with as much wealth and resources as the US we can't be bothered to ensure everyone has shelter and the space to care for their own needs. Don't get angry at the homeless. Get angry at the system that creates homelessness.
