I went to a counter protest today. A couple counter protesters were arrested and one got punched in the face. Meanwhile the Trump peeps walking around with their penis extension devices, and a loving surveillance nest on top of a nearby building. Emotions were high, but my take now having 'faced off' against a mass of tumpers is that they're a bunch of scared white people.

No arrest. Not sure if anything has happened since then. Though I doubt police seek out punchers.

Interesting. None of the media reports I've seen have anything about it. Did it happen in an out of the way area? If a Trump supporter got punched they'd be giving it a lot of coverage and talking about the violent left...

Yeah, I've got no idea why no one is picking anything up. All I've seen in the media is the people being arrested for 'assaulting' a police officer. All I saw was someone knocking over a sign for the 'free speech zone' and then the police attacked them. Like hands around the dude's neck attacked.

The mainstream media was behind the police line though from what I could tell, recording the Trumper's speeches it seemed like.

I watched a live stream of the 'proud boys' in berkeley today and it was really interesting. White guys with 3' long 2" hardwood dowels and 4x6" flags taped to the dowel, 70 year old white guys in leather vests with straight up pieces of 2x4, white guys wearing motorcycle helmets and plywood shields and utililikilts..

When they backed off behind a concrete wall o stay on the high ground, one white guy with a top-knot pulled a knife (and eventually was escorted to his car).

I was coming here to post the same interview at the nascent Greater Seattle GDC site. To be honest, I'm real happy he's still able to joke about his 'semicolon' and such. I've known the dude for probably half a decade and he's one of the most genuinely good people I've ever met.

I've seen a few people passing around a video of Lake Oswego's proud boys rally from yesterday, where one woman is surrounded by a bunch of them and just starts waving the bird.. Generally the people sharing this are saying "this is why you cannot reason with liberals" so that is a thing which happened. In the video though, at least half of the people surrounding the woman seem to also be known white supremacists. Mercury reports that the guy giving the heil hitler sign at the women was actually attempting to pray for and lay hands on her to heal her.

About six months ago, the Portland Building renovation changed some bathrooms around to remove gender requirements http://www.wweek.com/news/2016/09/25/portlands-push-for-gender-neutral-bathrooms-is-bolder-than-you-thought/

Now Amanda Fritz wants to get rid of them, and has already changed the sign on one https://twitter.com/dirquez/status/839528323994664961

But in her Feb. 23 email, Fritz said she was speaking out on behalf of transgender people—and that the multi-stall restroom would only make a transgender person feel more threatened.

She considered the all-user restroom a danger, she wrote, in part because when she stood on the toilet, she was able to see into another stall.

Have the state issue hunting tags for the Homeless, however they are for a single individual and if you fail to murder catch and release (to Spokane) your target they get your house.

Seriously thought the homeless people in this city don't really scare me, but its annoying riding the bus etc. next to someone who smells like death, or is batshit crazy and tweaking, holding up the bus because they don't want to pay and want to get in a fight with the poor bus driver or some other random fucker which then calls the cops and you are now late to/from work, or they pass out for ~reasons~ and now an ambulance needs to show up and take them to the ER.

True sorry for coming across like an rear end in a top hat. Homlessness and poverty are bad, the way alot of city resources get misallocated on the issue is bad ( not that resources shouldnt be allovated) however a huge amount of expensive police/fire/hospital resources are tied up dealing with issues that could be handled more effectively. On the flip side the cities plans dont seem like they will be terribly effective.

20,000 dollars were spent on paying cops to throw away the few meager possessions of homeless people near the Field of Dreams. 200 million dollars have been proposed for a jail for children on municipal funds. That is how the city is "misallocating" its money. Maybe go drink a nice tall glass of go gently caress yourself.

That is because the city is run by a bunch of pearl clutching liberal assholes. The good news is that there are a lot of organizations fighting against them. You could join one and do something about it.

Also, Nikkita Oliver is running for mayor. She is pretty cool. Murray is a shithead.

Thats part of what I meant? Paying police money to go into these camps and clean them outis a giant waste of resources? Paying the fire department to give Narcon to a transient who OD'd and take him to an emergency room which will release them in a few days to the streets without a treatment programjust burns money and doesnt solve anything. King County sheriffs dropping people off in Seattle so they make it Seattles problems are also hosed up.

You need to reconsider the way that you are framing the issue and thinking about it. You're looking at it from the perspective of the cost to you personally and the non-homeless population generally. It's not about human misery from this perspective - it's just somebody making you uncomfortable and creating inconveniences in your life. You've dehumanized the homeless and the logical next step is asking how do we get rid of this blight, be that to mental institutions or poor farms or whatever.

What you instead should be considering is what leads to the guy smelling so bad? Why is somebody passing out and holding up the bus? How desperate do you have to be to try to argue for a free fare? The stuff you're complaining about isn't the real problem, it's the immediate result of the real problem. You need to remind yourself and everyone else about that fact because it's not the homeless person making you late, it's the fact that in a nation with as much wealth and resources as the US we can't be bothered to ensure everyone has shelter and the space to care for their own needs.

Don't get angry at the homeless. Get angry at the system that creates homelessness.
