Cage, don't buy a condo. There's no garage! For everyone else saying not to buy a house this is upstate NY, the housing bubble never really hit. Cost has been and remains on the low end of things. Taxes are steep but the schools are funded well and snow is removed promptly.

How to cut down an overgrown Bradford pear, which is also hanging over the pasture fence, in 7 easy steps: Drink coffee. Cut down the easy limbs. Put them in the burn pile. Repeat. Now the fun part. Tie a rope from the offending limb, to your pull vehicle. Recommend a bowline knot or similar. Apply enough tension to relieve the limb pressure, careful not too much. Cut the lower side of the limb, now relieved of compression force, about 3/4 through. Watch for cracks forming, Bradford Pear is very brittle. Pull with your vehicle, careful not to overstress the rope. If done right, it will break and fall just as it gets over center. Repeat as necessary. Rake up, you're done. Now call someone with a backhoe. I loving love my little tractor.

Looking at things as raw dollar amounts in asset/liability terms always weirds me out. Living is a depreciating asset, food is a waste and sleep loses me money. A house isn't an 'asset' and you don't get as much money back when you seek it but what about the actual living that's done in the meantime? What is the dollar amount when you derive satisfaction and enjoyment out of painting a wall whatever color you want whenever you want? Planting a tree just because? Those sort of freedoms have a very real worth that can't be put on a spreadsheet much like your favorite shoes aren't actually worth anything outside of this nebulous human aspect of worth. Truly the easiest way to save money is to go to sleep and never wake up.

Very nice. Having a little tractor kicks rear end. I used mine with a man basket on the loader yesterday to trim trees and clean gutters. So much easier than carrying the ladder.

I know it's been happening since, like, forever, but I'm getting annoyed with companies lowering the weight/volume of product more and more while keeping prices the same and making no note on the package for the consumer to notice. Latest catch: Pringles. Historically 160 gram can, now 148 grams. 10% less so physically it looks almost the same (You'd need them side by side to notice) but same selling price. I understand costs go up, but you can bet they'd change the label and mention it on a package if they go the other way like "EXTRA VALUE 10% MORE!!! SAME LOW PRICE!!!" but silent going the other way. Also, before anyone shits on them, pringles are awesome and I'll cut anyone who says otherwise.

Property is cheap out here in the flyovers, but I am holding off on buying because the last decade has taught me that there is no such thing as job security anymore. I can bail on a rental and be out an extra month's rent if I have to move to chase work availability. Not so much if I have to try and sell a house in a town that's just had a economic downturn.

It seems everybody wants to keep their product at $3 or $4, and it's turning everything into garbage. lipton green tea is still 24 bags, the tube is still the same size, but you can stick your thumb down between the bags and the container now, and you basically need 2 to get anything beyond yellow water.

Houses are good if you know for a fact that you will be somewhere for a decade or more, but I'm not sure that most people can say that these days. Chicago's losing people at an alarming rate, so I won't even bother looking here long term. The jobs are kind of here for now, but I wouldn't bet on it staying that way The only draw of this city is great food, great beer, and great hospitals. Pretty much everything else is kinda lovely at best

I've got $13 in google fun bucks saved up if there's another app that's considered the new hotness.

You can't take everything they do personally. If you own the property and care about it this can affect you.

Going to sell my car to Carvana tomorrow, everything has been super smooth so far so we'll see what the actual sale is like. There isn't many options available if you have a newer car and you want to sell it outright without trading it in to a new car and there is no way in hell I'm going to go down the road of private party selling for something in the mid 20k range. Since I own it outright it works out to me have been making around 250 bucks a month payment since we got in in June 2013. Not bad at all I think, and I've enjoyed the car very much while we've had it. But like I was told earlier, now that I have a ~~**LEXUS**~~ the VW just feels worse in every respect. Even though it's a 95 vs. a 2013 my wife and I can feel the purpose-built difference between the SC300 and the Golf R. You drive them both back to back and you just know that the Lexus was meant to be what it is while the Golf R gives away that it's a cheap car with bits stuck on. This stupid Lexus ruined the Golf R for me and my wife.
