Having the 'walk' person wearing dresses is a total non issue. Or, at least, it should be. loving male fragility. I'd personally like animated walk signs with men, women and children walking on them.

if you think twice about the signs instead of stop/go then you probably have too much time to worry about bullshit ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The icons should probably have a different silhouette to account for green/red color blindness.

Because once they finish winding back all the progress made in women's right such as abortion or the right to divorce they'll also make it mandatory to wear dresses instead of man-like pants so the blind old white men don't get confused who they're leering at. Also ultimately who cares, it's a walk signal. A big old green dot would work fine too. Actually I take that back. Replace all the people symbols with that of a dog. Let the peasants who walk the streets know how their betters think of them.

It's not even just a figure in a dress. It's the first Victorian woman Councillor. And they think that's inclusive? Why that excludes 5.791 million Victorians. I for one am outraged.

bowmore posted:I didn't assign a gender to those signs The gender is implicit in the design of the figure. Ask yourself if it looks more like the male or female characters used on toilet doors. Cirofren posted:Yeah for fucks sake. How else would you make an easily identifiable silhouette of a female gendered person? The dress has nothing to do with trying to force women to wear dresses, but to make it easily identifiable to as many people as possible as being female. It's not perfect but no solution would be due to the vast array of differences people have.

This is a good choice, if a bad design, because I can entirely judge people on what their response is. If it's 'what's the point' or 'this is a waste of money', they need stuff like this to remind them that the world isn't theirs. If it's 'the design looks really weird', but are otherwise approving, they have correct opinions.

No, but you see there was that one dude who was so advanced he didnt assign a gender to the figurines, so why waste tax payers money in going a small way to address the gender imbalance and remind people that the default option should not be male.

If you have an issue with people assuming that the generic walk person is male by default doesn't introducing a visually distinct female symbol confirm that everyone who assumed that was correct the whole time?

The walk sign should both be pink and the outline animated like a pixelated dress wearing woman burning her bra in a homage to the 1960s liberation movement. So there needs to be some flames, smoke and probably a placard as well.
