The NHL android app was updated and now puts out 60fps if you have a good enough connection. Worked perfectly and looked gorgeous through a 4G connection.

They played pretty great the second half of the game but doesn't matter. Can't beat Stars. I'm trying to drink myself into believing that this is a one off fluke loss and not the start of a similar trend like last year before the playoffs.

Also, here's the goalie interference explanation from the ref. http://www.csnmidatlantic.com/washington-capitals/referee-told-trotz-it-was-orpiks-second-push-not-his-first-cost-caps-coachs quote:While Orpik certainly did push Shore into the crease, Shore also makes no effort to leave which prompted Trotz to challenge the goal. After losing the challenge, Trotz said the referee explained to him that the deciding factor was not the initial push, but what happened afterward. Caps fan, but I'm going with the ref on this one.

Inside the CBJ's meeting which got Elliott Friedman's attention and turned the 7-9-1 post-streak skid into a 7-3-1 run: http://www.dispatch.com/sports/20170306/end-of-blue-jackets-malaise-tied-to-the-meetingquote:"What I took out of it was we were all on the same page again," veteran wing Scott Hartnell said. "It's not management versus coaches versus players versus trainers. (Coach John Tortorella) may not have been happy with our play. He might have been barking at us, and we were (barking) at him, and it seemed we got lost for a while there and lost our focus."

Well I was encouraged that they were able to capable the Devils and Flyers trapping the gently caress out of them, because you see that a lot more in the playoffs. The The Stars, by contrast, seemed focused on keeping the Caps to the outside where they could only take lovely perimeter shots. I'm choosing not to read too much into it though. The first goal was Orpik ruining an epic Holtby save, the second was just a fumble by Backstrom (on Swedish heritage night of all nights!), and the third was off a flub by Orlov. Didn't seem like much terribly wrong structurally, at least on defense.

It's kind of sad to see the Sedins' play fall off so dramatically, but they are getting to the end of a long career mostly spent being mashed in to the end boards by opposing D. The way Torts used them probably did some real damage as well. Also imagine how bad that D would be if Hutton, Stecher and Tryamkin didn't turn in to decent players.

Can the twins be traded, tho? I mean, unless you break them up, even with a decent chunk of salary being retained, who can afford them both? Even if they could retain 50 percent on each contract they still gotta eat like 7 mil for this season and next. And, like, who wants half the Sedins?

Even if they could retain 50 percent on each contract they still gotta eat like 7 mil for this season and next. They only have a season left on their deals, and I think there's a lot of teams that would benefit from having them as a second line. A trade in the summer for one last kick at the can (and a shot at resigning them at a bargain) would've made sense for a team like Chicago or New York. At 50% retained, they cost a combined $7M. Send a bad contract back and that would've been very doable. Sadly, Benning decided to retain 20% (aka $500k on one of the better bargains in the NHL) on the Hansen trade and he's signed through next year as well so the Canucks can't retain both Sedins anymore as Luongo has a retained portion as well and teams have a max of three slots. So that's a moot point, good job Jim.
